Location: U.S.-based with extensive travel to client manufacturing facilities nationwide; remote work when not on project.

The Opportunity
We’re seeking an engineer with manufacturing experience and hands-on MES expertise to support digital manufacturing implementations at client facilities.
This role requires the ability to assess production processes, work directly with manufacturing teams, and translate operational requirements into digital work instructions and MES workflows. You’ll connect what happens on the shop floor with how it is represented and executed within the system.
An industrial engineering background is particularly well suited to this work, combining process analysis, standardization, and practical application of manufacturing technology.
What You’ll Do
Assess manufacturing processes through direct shop-floor observation and collaboration with operators, engineers, and production leaders.
Capture process sequences, operating requirements, and critical production details.
Develop and standardize work instructions and process documentation.
Translate manufacturing requirements into digital work instructions and workflows within MES software.
Configure, test, and refine MES workflows to support production execution.
Validate system workflows against actual operating conditions and resolve gaps with client teams.
Identify opportunities to improve process consistency, efficiency, and usability.
Support implementation, operator training, and adoption of digital manufacturing solutions.
Collaborate with IE project teams and client stakeholders to deliver practical, sustainable improvements.
Required
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Professional experience in manufacturing with direct involvement in production processes and shop-floor operations.
Hands-on experience using, configuring, or implementing MES software.
Experience analyzing processes and developing work instructions, standard work, or other manufacturing documentation.
Ability to translate operational requirements into functional digital workflows.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with operators, technical teams, and manufacturing leadership.
Ownership and follow-through in a client-facing project environment.
Preferred
Experience developing digital work instructions or production workflows within an MES platform.
Participation in MES implementations, pilots, or facility rollouts.
Experience with process mapping, Lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement.
Experience supporting system testing, user training, and adoption.
