About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Smart Vision LLC sells consumer brands on Amazon and Walmart across the US, Canada and Mexico, with European marketplaces opening. We are looking for a senior operator to own new product launches on Amazon from go-live to stable rank.
This is a technical, senior role. The centre of it is indexing and ranking — making sure the listing indexes for the keywords that matter, then driving it onto page one and keeping it there. You will own each launched ASIN end to end during its launch window, including its advertising, and hand it over only once it has earned stable rank at an acceptable advertising cost.
You will run launches with minimal supervision. We expect you to make the calls yourself, tell us when something is not working, and bring a method rather than wait to be given one.
Reports to: Head of Amazon
Experience required: Five years minimum, hands-on, on Amazon US
What you will doPre-launch
• Build the launch plan for each approved product: target keyword set, launch pricing, promotion ladder, review strategy and timeline
• Work with the catalog manager on listing creation, attributes, variations, category and browse nodes
• Verify the listing is complete and correct before go-live, including backend search terms
• Confirm inventory is checked in and sufficient before the launch window opens
Indexing and ranking — the technical core
• Verify the ASIN indexes for every target keyword; diagnose and fix terms that fail to index
• Own backend search terms and structured attributes
• Track rank daily against the launch keyword set and report movement
• Read Search Query Performance and Brand Analytics to see where impression, click and purchase share are moving
• Run listing experiments through Manage Your Experiments once traffic supports it
Launch advertising
• Build the launch campaign structure: auto for discovery, exact and phrase for the launch keyword set, product targeting where relevant
• Manage bids and top-of-search placement through the launch window
• Harvest converting search terms into exact campaigns and negate waste
• Own the launched ASIN's advertising until it graduates
Early velocity and reviews
• Run the promotion ladder: coupons, deals and pricing through the early period
• Enrol in Vine and manage early review velocity
• Monitor conversion rate, sessions and click-through daily, and fix what breaks
External traffic
• Brief and time the external traffic team on deal postings, social and group placements around the launch
• Set up and read Amazon Attribution so off-Amazon traffic is measured rather than assumed
• Judge where external traffic is adding rank and where it is not, and say so
Graduation and method
• Apply the handover criteria: stable rank, stable conversion, advertising within target
• Hand the ASIN to its brand owner and PPC manager with a written summary of what worked
• Write and maintain the launch playbook so each launch is faster and more predictable than the last
Required
• At least five years launching private label products on Amazon US, hands-on, with launches you personally owned rather than supported
• Able to explain indexing properly: how to check it, why a keyword fails to index, and how to fix it
• Deep PPC capability: launch campaign architecture, placement bidding, search term harvesting and negation
• Fluent with rank tracking tools and with Brand Analytics and Search Query Performance
• Understands early velocity mechanics and how rank is actually earned, not theory
• Sound judgement under pressure — launches go wrong and we need someone who diagnoses rather than escalates
• Clear written English and the discipline to hold a timeline
Nice to have
• Vine, Lightning Deals and coupon strategy at scale
• Amazon Attribution setup and interpretation
• Helium 10 or equivalent
• Consumables or household goods categories
How success is measured
• Days from go-live to first page for the primary launch keyword
• Share of the launch keyword set indexed within seven days
• Conversion rate and advertising cost at graduation, against target
• Launches graduated per quarter
Interview process
Three stages, and every one of them goes deep on technical detail:
1. Screening interview — your launch history and what you personally owned
2. Technical interview — indexing, ranking, campaign architecture, worked through in specifics
3. Practical assessment — a live ASIN and its launch keyword set, where you tell us what you would check first and what you would change
We will also ask you to describe an indexing failure you have personally diagnosed and fixed.
This is a senior position and we test for it properly. If you are early in your Amazon career, or your experience is mainly supporting launches that someone else owned, this is not the right role for you — please do not apply.
