The opportunity
Syneos Health is seeking a commercially ambitious, consultative business development leader who can engage biopharmaceutical executives at the enterprise level and connect their most important growth challenges to the full breadth of our Commercial Services and Solutions. This role is designed for a strategic seller who is as comfortable diagnosing a client’s business problem as they are mobilizing multidisciplinary experts, shaping a differentiated solution, and leading a complex opportunity through contract. We are looking for someone who creates value before a proposal is written and builds relationships that expand over time.
What You Will Do
Own a focused portfolio of local, regional, and global biopharmaceutical accounts and build account strategies that connect client priorities to integrated Syneos Health capabilities.
Originate and qualify opportunities across the commercial lifecycle, including launch and pre-launch planning, field and deployment solutions, omnichannel engagement, patient and provider services, market access, communications, analytics, consulting, and commercial operations.
Lead with insight. Translate market, portfolio, customer, competitive, access, and operating-model signals into compelling hypotheses and executive-level conversations.
Build durable relationships across the C-suite and senior leaders in Commercial, Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Medical, Patient Services, Procurement, Operations, Digital, Data, and Finance.
Orchestrate internal subject-matter experts and solution leaders to deliver one coordinated client experience, clear win strategy, differentiated value proposition, and executable solution.
Guide complex opportunities from discovery through proposal, negotiation, and contracting while maintaining commercial discipline, deal quality, and clear mutual action plans.
Expand existing relationships by identifying adjacent needs, connecting capabilities, and demonstrating measurable business value after the initial sale.
Maintain accurate, timely opportunity, activity, relationship, and forecast information in the customer relationship management system; use data to improve prioritization and accountability.
Represent the voice of the customer internally and help inform solution innovation, go-to-market priorities, partnerships, and competitive positioning.
The market you will help clients navigate
Commercial leaders are rethinking how they launch and grow brands amid pricing and access pressure, constrained budgets, portfolio complexity, loss of exclusivity, rapid advances in data and AI, and higher expectations for personalized stakeholder engagement. Success increasingly requires connected, flexible solutions rather than an isolated service sale. The strongest candidate will be able to sell into this change by:
Connecting strategy to execution and showing how integrated capabilities reduce fragmentation and accelerate impact.
Framing AI, analytics, and automation as practical enablers of better decisions, productivity, personalization, and measurement within appropriate governance.
Designing flexible commercial models for emerging biotech, specialty and rare disease, established brands, and large global portfolios.
Helping clients orchestrate coordinated in-person and digital engagement across healthcare professionals, patients, caregivers, payers, and health systems.
Building value cases with defined outcomes, operating measures, assumptions, and a credible path to implementation.
What Success Looks Like
A high-quality, appropriately qualified pipeline aligned to priority accounts and Syneos Health growth areas.
New and expanded client relationships that span multiple stakeholders, brands, markets, and capabilities.
Win strategies and proposals that clearly connect client needs, differentiated solutions, commercial value, and delivery confidence.
Forecasts that are current, evidence-based, and trusted by leadership and solution partners.
A reputation with clients and colleagues as a strategic partner who is curious, accountable, collaborative, and decisive.
What You Bring
At least 8 years of progressive experience in the life sciences industry across business development, commercial consulting, commercialization services, sales, marketing, market access, operations, or related roles.
A demonstrated record of identifying, shaping, negotiating, and closing high-value, complex B2B solutions with biopharmaceutical decision-makers.
Executive presence and business acumen, with the ability to earn credibility, challenge assumptions constructively, and communicate a concise point of view.
Consultative discovery skills and the ability to uncover explicit and unspoken needs, quantify business impact, and create urgency around a client-supported path forward.
Experience selling or mobilizing cross-functional solutions involving multiple capabilities, stakeholders, geographies, and delivery teams.
Fluency in pipeline management, account planning, opportunity qualification, forecasting, and customer relationship management discipline.
Working knowledge of evolving biopharmaceutical commercial models, including specialty and rare disease, omnichannel engagement, data and analytics, market access, patient services, and outsourced or flexible field solutions.
Comfort operating in ambiguity and change, with a bias for action, thoughtful prioritization, resilience, and strong follow-through.
A collaborative, low-ego leadership style that brings the best of the enterprise to the client while maintaining clear ownership of the opportunity.
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in business, life sciences, or a related field preferred.
Differentiators
Experience with enterprise solution selling, strategic accounts, or commercial transformation in a services, consulting, agency, technology, or outsourcing environment.
Established relationships with senior biopharmaceutical commercial leaders and an ability to build new networks quickly.
Experience supporting launches, portfolio strategy, commercialization for emerging companies, or lifecycle growth programs.
Experience using analytics, AI-enabled tools, or digital platforms to strengthen commercial strategy, engagement, productivity, or measurement.
Previous field sales or sales leadership experience is helpful when paired with broader consultative and enterprise selling capability.
How You Lead
You think enterprise-first, stay close to the client, and make complexity understandable. You combine curiosity with commercial judgment, listen before prescribing, and know when to bring in expertise. You pursue ambitious outcomes without compromising integrity, inclusion, compliance, or delivery confidence.
