BESS - Solutions Engineer

Key Responsibilities
Develop technical proposals and respond to RFQ/RFP for Utility-scale BESS projects across the UK, collaborating closely with commercial sales team to win new orders.
Design BESS system architecture, conduct power system studies including load flow, short-circuit and grid compliance assessment aligned with UK G99/G100 grid codes.
Deliver customer-facing technical presentations, clarify technical queries from developers, IPPs and EPC partners, and manage technical negotiation during tender stage.
Support vendor & component selection (PCS, BMS, EMS, transformer), evaluate solution trade-offs between performance, cost, safety and project risk.
Liaise with internal engineering, product and commissioning teams to hand over awarded projects, and provide ongoing technical support through project lifecycle.
Essential Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Renewable Energy or related engineering discipline.
Minimum 3+ years proven solutions / pre-sales experience on utility-scale BESS or solar+storage projects within the UK market.
Solid knowledge of UK grid codes G99/G100, grid interconnection rules, and familiarity with power simulation tools such as DIgSILENT, PSCAD or ETAP.
Excellent customer communication and proposal writing skills; comfortable presenting complex technical solutions to external commercial and engineering stakeholders.
