Solutions Architect

Role Description This is a part-time, remote Solutions Architect role responsible for designing and guiding technical solutions that support AWFA’s collaborative freight forwarding platform. The Solutions Architect will work closely with internal stakeholders and member companies to understand business requirements, assess current workflows, and translate needs into scalable architecture designs. Daily tasks include evaluating integration options between logistics systems, defining technical standards, preparing solution diagrams and documentation, and advising on best practices for secure and efficient data exchange. The role also involves consulting on technology choices, coordinating with software development teams, and supporting the refinement of business processes to ensure solutions are aligned with operational goals. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently, participating in virtual meetings across time zones, and providing clear technical guidance to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in Solution Architecture, with the ability to design scalable, secure, and maintainable systems.
Background in Consulting, including gathering requirements, advising stakeholders, and translating business needs into technical solutions.
Hands-on experience with Software Development and Integration, including APIs, data exchange, and system interoperability.
Understanding of Business Process analysis and optimization, especially in logistics, supply chain, or related industries.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate trade-offs between different solution options.
Proficiency in creating technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and implementation guidelines.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in a multicultural, remote environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or transportation technology is highly beneficial.
Familiarity with cloud platforms, integration middleware, and security best practices is an advantage.
