Electrical Manager

Job Summary
The Manager – Electrical is responsible for leading the electrical engineering and maintenance function of the plant, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant electrical systems across production, utilities, and infrastructure. The role demands strong leadership in hazardous-area electrical safety, regulatory compliance, and team management. Candidates with prior experience in an explosives, ammunition, chemical, or other hazardous process industry are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
1. Electrical Systems Management
Oversee the operation, maintenance, and reliability of all electrical systems — HT/LT distribution, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, motors, drives (VFDs), UPS, DG sets, earthing, and lightning protection.
Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of electrical equipment to minimize downtime.
Lead troubleshooting of electrical faults and ensure quick restoration of production and utility systems.
Review and approve electrical schematics, load calculations, and equipment specifications for upgrades and new projects.
Manage, maintain and repair if necessary, all electrical equipments at factory
Ability to maintain and repair 320kv Diesel generator
2. Safety & Regulatory Compliance (Critical)
Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and statutory regulations (e.g., CEA regulations, IE Rules, factory licensing authority norms, ATEX/IECEx/NEC hazardous-area standards).
Enforce strict adherence to permit-to-work (PTW), lockout-tagout (LOTO), and hot work procedures, especially in classified/hazardous zones.
Ensure all electrical equipment and installations in hazardous areas are of approved type and properly maintained.
Lead electrical safety audits, thermography inspections, earth resistance testing, and relay coordination studies.
Investigate electrical incidents and near misses; drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
3. Team Leadership & Development
Lead, schedule, and develop a team of electrical engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
Conduct training on hazardous-area electrical safety, SOPs, and emergency response.
Set performance goals, conduct reviews, and build a strong safety-first culture within the team.
4. Projects & Energy Management
Manage electrical capex projects — scoping, vendor evaluation, installation, commissioning, and handover.
Drive energy conservation initiatives and monitor power consumption, losses, and billing.
Coordinate with OEMs, consultants, and contractors for specialized works and technical support.
5. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain electrical maintenance records, single-line diagrams, test reports, and calibration/inspection documentation.
Prepare MIS reports on downtime, MTTR/MTBF, energy consumption, and compliance status.
Support statutory inspections, safety audits, and licensing authority reviews.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (B.E./B.Tech).
Experience: [X]+ years of electrical engineering/maintenance experience, with at least [X] years in a managerial/leadership role. Prior experience in an explosives, ammunition, fireworks, chemical, or hazardous process industry is strongly preferred.
