About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Remote (India) · Full-time · Reports to the CPTO
Be Facto's founding product manager.
Facto builds factory operations software for Indian manufacturers that still run on paper, WhatsApp and Excel. You'll own customer discovery, workflow and UX design, and delivery with a dedicated engineering team. You'll build prototypes and features yourself with AI coding agents, and lead sales meetings with prospects our BD team has already qualified.
This role fits you if
• you have personally built prototypes or features with AI coding agents
• you can talk through business processes with factory owners and operators in their language (often Hindi)
• you want to lead customer and sales conversations, not only manage a backlog
About Facto
We build software for production, job tracking, inventory, orders, dispatch, invoicing and reporting. We are bootstrapped, with live customers and a small engineering team. Every customer is built on a shared platform we're developing, so patterns that recur across factories become product. More at myfactoapp.com.
What you will own
• Understand the real operation. Speak with owners and the people doing the work, observe workflows, examine records, reconcile conflicting explanations and find the exceptions that matter.
• Shape the solution. Define workflows, business rules and UX, and make decisions explicit through specs, process maps, sketches or prototypes so engineers can act independently.
• Build with AI agents. Create interactive prototypes or working features yourself when workflow and UX decisions need close iteration, then hand engineers a foundation with clear intent, checks and remaining work.
• Lead delivery. Prioritise releases, break work down with engineers, test realistic scenarios and edge cases, and keep customer commitments visible.
• Support adoption. Coordinate testing, training and go-live, and fix what gets in the way of real use.
• Run qualified sales meetings. Discovery, demos and product concerns with prospects BD has qualified, then ask for a commitment. You start alongside a founder, then lead them yourself.
How you will work
Remote, with occasional one-off factory visits for discovery (travel paid by Facto). Most of your time goes into discovery, solution design, delivery decisions and reviewing outcomes. You own routine scope, workflow and prioritisation decisions, and work with the CPTO on product direction and major platform decisions.
What we are looking for
• Experience taking ambiguous problems through to software people actually use
• Strong discovery: useful questions, careful listening, separating requests from underlying needs
• Systems thinking: data relationships, workflow states, permissions and exceptions
• Product and UX judgment: you spot when an implementation will confuse users
• Technical fluency to discuss behaviour, integrations and trade-offs with engineers
• Clear written communication for a remote team, in English
You may come from product management, engineering, design, business analysis or customer-facing delivery. We assess demonstrated ability, not a particular degree or path.
Helpful: operational business software (manufacturing, inventory, logistics, orders), small B2B teams, direct work with business owners.
Interview process
A project discussion, a live discovery exercise and a conversation with the team. AI tools are welcome; we assess your judgment and the quality of the outcome.
How to apply
A short form: your CV, two brief written answers (a project you took from an unclear need to real use, and something you built with AI agents) and a 60-second video.
