Role Description The Sourcing Merchandiser – Textile and Fabric is a full-time, on-site role based in Ludhiana. This role involves identifying and evaluating textile and fabric suppliers, negotiating prices and terms, and ensuring product quality and timely deliveries. The Sourcing Merchandiser will manage sampling, approvals, and order follow-ups, coordinate closely with production and quality teams, and maintain detailed records of supplier performance and product specifications. Day-to-day responsibilities include market research on fabrics and trims, cost analysis, communication with domestic and international buyers, and resolving sourcing-related issues. The role also requires regular factory visits, monitoring compliance with agreed standards, and contributing to continuous improvement of sourcing processes.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of textiles, fabrics, yarns, and garment accessories; ability to assess quality, construction, and suitability for different products.
Experience in vendor development, supplier relationship management, and negotiation of prices, lead times, and payment terms.
Skills in sourcing strategies, cost analysis, and market research related to textiles and fabric trends.
Proficiency in order management, documentation, and coordination between merchandising, production, and logistics teams.
Ability to interpret technical specifications, quality standards, and buyer requirements, with attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with suppliers, buyers, and internal stakeholders; strong follow-up and problem-solving abilities.
Comfort with using basic office software (e.g., spreadsheets, email, databases) to track orders, costs, and supplier information.
Prior experience in textile sourcing or garment merchandising is highly preferred; familiarity with export procedures is an advantage.
Diploma or degree in Textile Engineering, Fashion Technology, Apparel Merchandising, or a related field is beneficial.
Ability to work on-site in Ludhiana, travel to supplier locations as needed, and manage multiple projects within tight timelines.
