Senior Technical Lead / Architect

Job description
We are looking for a Senior Technical Lead / Architect to join our North American client's team and assume greenfield technical leadership of a small but senior team building a new SaaS product from scratch - you'll own the architecture end-to-end, run an AI-driven development lifecycle, and make the calls that determine how the product gets built, what ships, and how fast the team moves.
Roles & Responsibilities
Own the full architecture - offline-first sync and conflict resolution, database-per-tenant multi-tenancy with catalog-based routing, the Azure platform, and the cross-platform .NET MAUI app structure.
Design the cross-platform mobile architecture so Android ships first and iOS follows in Phase 2 on roughly 85% shared code.
Run the AI orchestrator - break work into AI-executable units, maintain the specification and context repository, set guardrails, and decide what is good enough to merge.
Serve as the final review gate for all code - AI-generated and human - with particular rigor on sync, security, and regulatory record integrity.
Write and maintain architecture decision records, and lead early technical spikes on sync, threshold rules, voice integration, and map provider.
Work closely with the Product Manager on specifications and with a compliance specialist on rules-engine correctness.
Build the hardest pieces yourself when it matters - this role is 60-70% architecture and orchestration, 30-40% hands-on.
Coordinate with shared DevOps and security partners to get the platform ready for an independent security review and penetration test.
Set engineering standards and mentor two senior engineers on the team.
Job Requirements
10+ years in software engineering, with 4+ years as a technical lead or architect on shipped production systems.
Expert-level C# and modern .NET - ASP.NET Core is the core of the backend stack.
Has designed and shipped an offline-first mobile app with local storage and sync/conflict resolution - Xamarin or .NET MAUI strongly preferred.
Has designed a multi-tenant SaaS platform - database-per-tenant with a central catalog is the model here.
Solid Azure architecture experience: App Service or Container Apps, Functions, Blob Storage, PostgreSQL or SQL, Microsoft Entra ID, Key Vault, Azure Monitor, and infrastructure as code (Bicep or Terraform).
Strong relational data modeling in PostgreSQL - schema design, migrations, and performance.
Secure design fundamentals: threat modeling, authentication and authorization, OWASP, audit trails, and immutable records.
Uses AI coding agents daily and can demonstrate how to specify work for agents, steer them, and catch their mistakes - this is central to how the team works.
Writes clearly - specs, decision records, and short memos for non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have: rugged Android / MDM experience, PostGIS or geospatial work, regulated or compliance-driven systems, field inspection or EAM domain knowledge, Azure AI Speech integration.
