About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
We're hiring our first business development owner: someone with a genuine black book of PR agencies who wants to open doors, close deals and share in the upside of a fast-growing startup.
About StudioData
StudioData is the visibility operating system for modern PR agencies. It's a white-label platform that helps agencies prove their impact across coverage, search and AI, and then make money from the work needed to improve it.
Each agency gets beautifully branded client dashboards showing coverage secured, website traffic, backlinks and authority, competitor benchmarking, AI share of voice and social mentions. Every dashboard surfaces clear next-step recommendations, and agencies can bring in our vetted SEO/AEO experts to deliver the work under their own brand, earning a 25% share of the fees for doing nothing extra.
We launched in October 2026 with founding agency partners already live, and 80+ client dashboards on the platform. The product is built, the agencies love it, and demand is coming in. Now we need someone to take it to every PR agency that should be using it.
The role
This is a hunter role. You'll own new business for StudioData, starting with the PR agency founders, MDs and directors you already know, and building out from there across the UK and, in time, overseas.
You'll be on the phone, in inboxes and in meetings every day. Nobody will hand you a lead list: you'll build the pipeline yourself, book the demos, run them (or bring Oli in for the big ones) and close. You'll be our first commercial hire, so you'll also help shape how we sell, what we charge and who we go after next.
What you'll do
• Work your own network of PR agency leaders hard: calls, coffees, intros and follow-ups, every day
• Build and own a pipeline of new agency subscribers, from first conversation to signed contract
• Run sharp, tailored demos using live competitor benchmarking for the agency's own clients
• Close deals and agree pricing and terms within the framework we set together
• Hand new agencies over smoothly for onboarding, and stay close enough to spot expansion and expert-delivery upsells
• Open up new markets and sectors
• Represent StudioData at industry events, roundtables and agency networks
• Feed back what agencies are telling you so it shapes the product, pricing and positioning
• Keep a clean, honest pipeline and report on it weekly
Who you are
Essential
• A genuine black book of PR agency founders, MDs and directors in the UK, people who'll take your call
• Deep knowledge of how PR agencies work: retainers, client reporting, new business and the pressure to prove value
• A track record of winning new business, whether in agency new business, BD, account leadership or selling into agencies
• A self-starter who doesn't need a lead list, a script or someone checking in to get going
• Confident on the phone and in the room, warm, persistent and credible with senior agency people
• Comfortable working remotely and owning your own diary and targets
• Excited by the startup life: pace, ambiguity and the chance to build something big from the ground floor
A bonus
• Contacts in international PR markets, particularly the Middle East or Europe
• Experience in luxury, travel, hospitality, property or lifestyle PR
• A working understanding of SEO, AI search or how PR drives digital visibility
• Experience selling SaaS or a subscription product
What's in it for you
• Serious earning potential. A £50,000–£60,000 base plus 10% uncapped commission on every agency you sign, giving OTE of c.£75,000–£85,000. Sign 40 agencies in a year and you’re earning around £100,000.
• A product that sells itself in the room. Agencies see their own clients benchmarked live, and it lands every time.
• A product that makes agencies money. You're not selling a cost; you're selling a new revenue stream through expert delivery.
• Ground-floor impact. You'll be our first commercial hire, working directly with the founders and shaping how StudioData grows.
• Freedom. Fully remote, your own diary, judged on results, not hours.
• Room to grow. As we scale, this role can grow into leading a sales team and our international expansion.
