About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

Job Title: Backend Engineering Intern
Company: Delegrity
Location: Bengaluru, India — On-site
Job Type: Internship — Full-time
Duration: 3–6 months
Start Date: [Month 2026]
Compensation: [Paid — ₹XX,XXX per month]
Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related engineering discipline, currently pursuing or recently completed.
About Delegrity
Delegrity is an early-stage software company building an authority and evidence layer for AI agents.
When an AI agent is about to take a real business action — such as paying a supplier, changing a customer record, or modifying an enterprise system — Delegrity verifies whether the organisation still authorises that specific action and maintains verifiable evidence of what happened.
We are moving toward controlled customer pilots, and interns work directly on the core product and engineering systems.
What You Will Do
Build and test backend API endpoints using TypeScript and NestJS.
Work with PostgreSQL, including schemas, queries, and database migrations.
Write tests that verify tenant isolation and ensure one customer's data cannot be accessed by another.
Contribute to backend services written in Go for evidence verification and approved action execution.
Maintain API specifications, generated types, validation schemas, and automated tests alongside product changes.
Debug backend issues and improve reliability, performance, and error handling.
Run, test, and troubleshoot the complete system locally using Docker.
Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
Write clear technical documentation for the systems you build.
What We Are Looking For
At least one backend project using a real database, from coursework, internships, open-source work, or personal projects.
Working knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript.
Basic to intermediate knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
Familiarity with Git and standard software development workflows.
Ability to understand APIs, backend services, and data models.
Attention to correctness, including edge cases, validation, security, and clear error handling.
Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn quickly.
Ability to ask questions, take feedback, and work effectively in a small engineering team.
Helpful, but Not Required
Experience or interest in any of the following is a plus:
Go
NestJS
PostgreSQL
Docker
REST APIs
Distributed systems
Security or authorisation systems
AI agents or agentic systems
Audit logging or evidence systems
What You Will Gain
Experience building real features for an early-stage product.
Code review and engineering feedback on your work.
Practical experience with backend architecture, APIs, databases, and testing.
Exposure to secure system design, including authorisation, signed evidence, audit trails, and tenant isolation.
Experience working with TypeScript, NestJS, PostgreSQL, Go, and Docker in a real product environment.
Direct exposure to product development and pilot-readiness work.
Internship certificate or letter of recommendation based on performance.
Possibility of a longer-term or full-time role based on performance and company requirements.
