About SciencebyMir
SciencebyMir is a growing online tuition business specialising in GCSE and A-Level Chemistry.
Our aim is simple: to help students develop a genuine understanding of Chemistry, improve their examination technique and achieve outstanding results.
We deliver highly interactive group lessons where students are constantly challenged, assessed and supported. Our approach combines live marking, targeted questioning, exam-style practice and immediate feedback to identify misconceptions and close learning gaps.
As our student community continues to grow, we're looking for an exceptional Chemistry teacher to join our team.
The Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced, enthusiastic Chemistry teacher who is passionate about teaching and enjoys helping students develop their confidence.
You'll deliver live online GCSE and A-Level Chemistry lessons using our established teaching approach, supported by our teaching resources and digital learning platforms.
We offer two types of classes:
Core Classes — Small-group teaching
Groups of up to eight students, focusing on clear explanations, conceptual understanding, individual feedback and application of knowledge.
Mastery Classes — Exam-focused learning
Larger groups focusing on challenging examination questions, exam technique, common misconceptions and developing higher-level problem-solving skills.
You'll initially teach one or two classes per week, with opportunities to take on additional groups as SciencebyMir expands.
What You'll Be Doing
Deliver engaging, interactive GCSE and A-Level Chemistry lessons online.
Teach in line with AQA, OCR and/or Edexcel examination specifications.
Use a teach–test–teach approach to continually assess understanding.
Identify misconceptions through targeted questioning and exam-style problems.
Provide immediate feedback using interactive online whiteboards and live marking.
Help students develop confidence with challenging Chemistry concepts and examination questions.
Maintain strong student engagement, satisfaction and retention.
Work collaboratively with the SciencebyMir teaching team to maintain high teaching standards.
About You
We're particularly interested in teachers who:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and have experience teaching Chemistry in a UK secondary school or sixth form.
Have strong subject knowledge across GCSE and A-Level Chemistry.
Understand the requirements of AQA, OCR and/or Edexcel specifications.
Can explain difficult concepts clearly and adapt explanations when students struggle.
Are confident questioning students, identifying misunderstandings and providing constructive feedback.
Have a genuine passion for teaching and improving student outcomes.
Are comfortable using, or willing to learn, interactive online teaching platforms.
Particularly desirable:
Recent experience teaching A-Level Chemistry.
GCSE or A-Level examination marking experience.
Experience delivering online group lessons.
A track record of excellent student outcomes and retention.
Pay and Progression
£35–£70 per teaching hour, depending on experience, performance and class responsibilities.
We believe exceptional teachers deserve to be rewarded.
Teachers who consistently deliver excellent lessons, maintain strong student outcomes and successfully retain larger groups will have opportunities to progress towards the higher end of our pay range.
There may also be opportunities to take on additional classes and responsibilities as SciencebyMir grows.
What We Offer
Competitive hourly pay with opportunities for progression.
Flexible part-time online teaching.
Fully remote working.
Access to established teaching resources and digital learning systems.
Support from an experienced teaching team.
Opportunities to grow your teaching hours as the business expands.
Our Selection Process
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an informal interview followed by a short online teaching demonstration.
We'll be looking at how you explain challenging concepts, engage students, use questioning to assess understanding and respond to misconceptions.
