Backend Developer with DevOps

The Backend Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and operation of the platform's server-side systems and cloud infrastructure. The role is approximately 70% application engineering and 30% infrastructure and operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, develop, and maintain REST APIs using Node.js and TypeScript.
Design and maintain the PostgreSQL schema, including migrations, indexing, and query performance optimisation.
Develop core platform services, including authentication, payments, notifications, search, and media handling.
Manage AWS infrastructure, including compute, RDS, S3, CloudFront, IAM, networking, and cost management.
Maintain development and staging environments on Railway with sufficient parity to production that defects are identified prior to release.
Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, logging, and alerting.
Maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures, including periodic restore testing against a defined recovery time objective.
Maintain API documentation sufficient for independent integration by mobile and web engineering.

2+ years of production backend engineering experience, including 2+ years with Node.js and TypeScriptDemon
strated PostgreSQL proficiency, including production query performance troubleshootingHands
-on experience deploying, securing, and operating production workloads on AWSExper
ience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tooling [AWS CDK / CloudFormation]Exper

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with real-time systems, including WebSockets and push notification infrastructure
Marketplace domain experience, including bookings, availability management, cancellations, and payouts.
