The Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Management Accountant to support the Director of Finance in delivering accurate financial reporting, robust financial controls, and insightful business analysis. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the integrity of the company's financial performance reporting while supporting strategic decision-making across the business.
The successful candidate will take ownership of key month-end activities, management reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, statutory compliance, and performance analysis across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Prepare monthly Gross Profit reports and performance analysis.
Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports.
Analyse Profit & Loss performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
Prepare and monitor key financial and operational KPIs.
Support working capital reporting and cash flow analysis.
Assist in the preparation of management account packs, including HFM reporting requirements.
Month-End & Year-End Accounting
Manage month-end close activities and period-end changeover processes.
Prepare and post month-end journals, accruals, and prepayments.
Complete balance sheet reconciliations and nominal ledger reviews.
Maintain fixed asset registers under both UK GAAP and US GAAP requirements.
Support year-end statutory reporting, tax packs, and audit deliverables.
Compliance & Controls
Prepare and submit VAT returns and relevant government statistical returns.
Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls and corporate policies.
Support internal and external audit activities.
Perform intercompany reconciliations and recharge calculations.
Assist with domestic and international tax calculations where required.
Business Support
Process employee expense claims in accordance with company policy.
Partner with operational stakeholders to provide financial insight and support.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes.
Leverage AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance productivity, reporting accuracy, decision-making, and process efficiency.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications
Fully qualified AAT.
Part-qualified ACCA or CIMA, or qualified by relevant experience.
Strong understanding of management accounting principles and financial controls.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with strong analytical capability.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight reporting deadlines.
Desirable Experience
Previous experience in a manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, or MRO environment.
