DevOps Engineer

About Hoplid
Hoplid will experience concentrated traffic spikes, especially around food-ordering periods. The DevOps Engineer will build
infrastructure that keeps the platform available, secure, observable and cost-efficient.
Role Mission
Make Hoplid deployable, observable, secure and capable of scaling without infrastructure becoming a
bottleneck or uncontrolled expense.
Core Responsibilities
• Design and operate production cloud infrastructure.
• Containerize services with Docker.
• Build GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines.
• Manage Linux servers and application runtime environments.
• Configure networking, TLS, secrets and service access.
• Operate PostgreSQL and Redis infrastructure with the Backend Engineer.
• Design backups and disaster-recovery procedures.
• Implement monitoring, alerting and logs.
• Use Sentry and later Prometheus/Grafana where appropriate.
• Perform k6 load and capacity tests.
• Implement rate limits, edge protection and secure configuration.
• Run Dependabot and Trivy security checks.
• Investigate production incidents.
• Continuously optimize infrastructure cost.
Scaling Responsibilities
• Support multiple FastAPI instances behind a load balancer.
• Identify CPU, memory, database, Redis, network and queue bottlenecks.
• Support CDN and object-storage architecture for photos and videos.
• Separate background workloads from latency-sensitive API requests.
• Work with the Backend Engineer on connection pooling, caching and database scaling.
• Maintain staging and production environments.

Team Context
You — Founder / Product / Flutter: the founder owns the Flutter frontend and product direction. This role works closely with
the other three engineering roles. Critical systems must always have a primary owner and a capable backup.
Engineering Principle
Hoplid uses overlapping skill sets deliberately. Each engineer has a clear primary profession while maintaining
enough adjacent knowledge to support another engineer when required.
