About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
As the Safety Director for your assigned region, you will serve as a leader, mentor, and advocate for a strong safety culture across all projects. You will be responsible for managing and coordinating safety initiatives, guiding Safety Managers, field Superintendents, project teams, and subcontractor partners to ensure every project is completed safely and successfully. In this role, you will help shape attitudes and behaviors around safety, reinforcing the expectation that every worker returns home safely each day. You will lead the education and training of field personnel, build strong relationships with regulatory agencies such as OSHA, and represent the Company’s commitment to safety excellence. You will also play a key role in developing Safety Managers, sharing best practices across projects, and partnering with the VP of Health and Safety to implement new safety programs and initiatives. When a project does not have a dedicated Safety Manager, you will step in to assume those responsibilities and work directly alongside project teams to maintain the highest standards of worker safety and compliance.
YOU COULD BE THE NEXT CHOATE SAFETY DIRECTOR IF…

You conducted safety orientations and ongoing training for employees and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with company policies, OSHA requirements, and project-specific safety expectations.
You performed and documented weekly safety inspections, incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans to continuously improve project safety performance.
You collaborated with OSHA representatives, insurance inspectors, and project stakeholders during audits and inspections, providing guidance on compliance and supporting responses to citations when necessary.
You evaluated subcontractor safety qualifications, reviewed site-specific safety plans, shared best practices, and provided recommendations that elevated overall jobsite safety performance.
You worked closely with project teams and corporate leadership to develop safety policies, manage safety budgets, track performance trends, procure compliant PPE, and foster a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.
