ABOUT VEDAARTHA FOODS
Vedaartha Foods is an India-based food ingredients company specialising in sourcing and international market development for potato flakes, oleoresins and dehydrated food ingredients. We work closely with manufacturing partners to meet the quality, specification and procurement requirements of food manufacturers, importers and distributors.
We are now expanding into frozen seafood and are seeking an experienced professional to establish, lead and grow this business vertical.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a hands-on leadership role with responsibility for building the business from the ground up—from market selection and customer acquisition to processing partnerships, commercial execution and team development.
Working directly with company leadership, you will develop the business plan, establish operating processes and build a profitable, scalable seafood export operation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop the market-entry strategy, product portfolio, business plan and budgets for frozen shrimp and squid exports.
• Acquire and develop international customers, including importers, distributors, wholesalers and foodservice businesses.
• Identify and evaluate processing partners based on product capabilities, quality systems, market approvals, capacity and commercial reliability.
• Translate customer requirements into clear product specifications covering species, size grades, product forms, glazing, net weight, packaging and quality parameters.
• Lead pricing, costing and commercial negotiations, with accountability for margins, working-capital discipline and payment collection.
• Coordinate sampling, customer approvals, production schedules, quality verification and shipment readiness.
• Establish export compliance processes and coordinate applicable registrations, documentation, traceability, testing and destination-market requirements with qualified specialists.
• Manage cold-chain and reefer logistics coordination, shipment execution and customer communication.
• Resolve quality claims and operational issues in coordination with processing partners, customers and service providers.
• Maintain company-owned customer records, supplier evaluations, costing models and operating procedures.
• Provide regular business reviews covering pipeline, profitability, cash requirements, operational risks and growth opportunities.
• Recruit and develop a lean team as business volumes grow.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
• Preferably 7–12 years of relevant seafood export experience, with demonstrated responsibility for international business development and commercial execution.
• Direct experience in frozen shrimp and/or squid; strong capability in one category and practical familiarity with the other will be considered.
• Proven ability to win customers and manage business from enquiry through shipment and payment collection.
• Strong understanding of seafood processing, product specifications, quality controls, cold-chain logistics and export documentation.
• Established industry relationships and the ability to develop new customer and processing partnerships.
• Experience managing profitability, commercial negotiations and payment risks.
• Comfortable working independently in an early-stage business and building processes before expanding the team.
• Strong communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills, with willingness to travel.
• Relevant qualifications in fisheries, food technology, international business or a related discipline are desirable; demonstrated industry performance is essential.
SUCCESS IN THE ROLE
• A focused, commercially viable market-entry plan.
• Qualified processing partners and a credible customer pipeline.
• Compliant, well-executed initial orders.
• Healthy margins, timely collections and repeat business.
• Documented processes and a practical team-expansion plan.
COMPENSATION
Competitive fixed compensation plus performance-linked incentives, aligned with experience and demonstrated results.
