About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

MDRN Wealth is a fast-growing boutique RIA based in Los Angeles, serving clients nationwide as a fee-only fiduciary. We obsess over the full picture — proactive tax planning, estate planning, and investment management that actually work together. Our firm is built on modern technology and AI, which lets our experienced team deliver deeply personalized service to every client.
Our work has been recognized in the Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Bloomberg, The New York Times, and CBS News.
The Role
We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on leader to take ownership of MDRN Wealth’s day-to-day client service operations, operational systems, workflows, and billing processes.
This is a high-autonomy role for someone who enjoys both building scalable processes and rolling up their sleeves to execute them. You’ll lead and develop our client service team while personally handling complex service requests, operational projects, and responsibilities that require experience and sound judgment.
You’ll be the person who makes sure our clients’ experience matches the quality of the advice they receive.
What You’ll Do
Operational Leadership & Systems
Own the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of our operational workflows and standard operating procedures
Serve as the firm’s internal subject-matter expert on our CRM, custodial platforms, and operational technology
Independently identify opportunities to improve, implement solutions, and build scalable processes as we grow
Manage vendor and technology relationships, including platform administration, employee onboarding setup, and integrations
Partner with leadership to set operational priorities while owning routine operational decisions
Client Service Oversight & Team Management
Directly manage, train, and develop our Client Service Associate(s), including regular team meetings and training sessions
Own the client service function end to end, establishing and monitoring team performance standards for how every request is handled
Oversee all inbound and outbound client service requests and custodial workflows
Own complex or sensitive client requests that call for senior-level expertise
Partner with advisors to set clear communication, task delegation, and service expectations
Billing & Revenue Operations
Own the firm’s advisory billing process end to end, from new-client setup and fee schedules to quarterly execution and reconciliation
Maintain accurate billing records and audit readiness, aligned with client agreements and firm policies
You’re the Right Fit If
You have deep client service and custodial expertise, and clients feel it in every interaction
You take ownership and like building systems, not just running them
You lead by example and enjoy developing others
You’re hands-on and thrive in a fast-growing firm where you’re empowered to improve how things work
What We Need
5+ years of RIA client service and operations experience, including direct ownership of operational processes
Expert knowledge of account types (IRAs, Roth IRAs, trusts, 401(k)s, entities) and custodial processes, including account openings, ACATs, money movement, wires, journals, and RMDs
Demonstrated experience designing or materially improving workflows in an RIA CRM
Prior experience as a manager or in an equivalent supervisory role, with direct reports
Hands-on experience with Schwab and/or Altruist
Experience configuring and executing advisory billing
Clear, professional communication with clients, advisors, and custodial partners
Must be available to work Pacific Time hours (8am–5pm)
Nice to Have
Experience with Slant, Capitect, and both Altruist and Schwab
CFP® or FPQP™
Based in Los Angeles or Southern California
Compensation & Benefits
We take care of our team the same way we take care of our clients — by looking at the full picture.
Base salary: $100,000–$130,000/yr, depending on experience
Quarterly performance-based profit-sharing bonus eligibility
100% remote — work from anywhere in the US
Unlimited PTO + paid holidays
401(k) with employer match
Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance
Professional development support, including certifications, licenses, and continuing education
MDRN Wealth is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
