Senior COBOL Developer

About the Role
We're looking for a Senior COBOL Developer with solid mainframe experience to join an international project.
You'll be working with international teams, contributing to the development, enhancement, and modernization of business-critical applications while gaining exposure to modern engineering practices.
What You'll Be Doing
- Develop, maintain, and enhance applications using COBOL in IBM Mainframe environments.
- Work with COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and z/OS.
- Analyze existing applications, troubleshoot complex issues, and improve system performance.
- Work with batch processing and online transactions.
- Participate in application enhancements, system integrations, and modernization initiatives.
- Collaborate with international development teams on technical solutions.
- Support testing, code reviews, deployments, and production activities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and development best practices.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in COBOL development.
- Strong knowledge of COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM.
- Experience working with IBM z/OS environments.
- Solid understanding of batch processing, debugging, and production support.
- Familiarity with TSO/ISPF, Endevor, Changeman, or similar tools.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and software development best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with distributed teams.
- Advanced English proficiency (B2+/C1), with the confidence to participate in technical discussions, explain solutions, and communicate effectively with international stakeholders.
Nice to Have
Experience with modern technologies and mainframe transformation initiatives would be a great addition:
- Mainframe modernization and legacy system transformation.
- REST APIs and web services.
- CI/CD pipelines, Git, Jenkins, and DevOps practices.
- AWS, Azure, or hybrid cloud environments.
- Microservices and distributed systems.
- Automation and modern application integration.
