Job Description
McIntosh and Sonus faber are two of the world's most iconic luxury audio brands, recognized for uncompromising performance, craftsmanship, and design. We are seeking an entrepreneurial Regional Business Development Manager to accelerate profitable growth by expanding our presence across both the luxury retail and residential technology markets.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Western Zone Sales Leader, the Regional Business Development Manager is responsible for developing and executing the regional business strategy while maximizing revenue, profitability, and market share.
This is not a traditional territory sales role. It is a strategic market development position requiring an individual who can balance executive account management, dealer acquisition, technical consultation, specification influence, and data-driven business planning.
The ideal candidate should be as comfortable reviewing a complete set of construction plans to identify specification opportunities as they are presenting a strategic business plan to the executive leadership of a key dealer.
The successful candidate will operate as a trusted business advisor while expanding our presence across both the luxury retail and residential technology markets.
Key Responsibilities: Business Growth & Market Development
Develop and execute regional business strategies that drive revenue, profitability, and market share.
Identify whitespace opportunities while recruiting, onboarding, and developing high-value dealers.
Strengthen strategic retail partnerships while expanding our presence within the luxury residential technology market.
Manage forecasting, territory investments, and business performance using a disciplined, data-driven approach.
Strategic Account Leadership
Build executive relationships with key retail and luxury custom integrators.
Develop strategic account plans that improve dealer performance, profitability, and market share.
Present executive business reviews supported by market intelligence, financial analysis, and sales performance metrics.
Business Development & Specification Strategy
Develop relationships with integrators, architects, designers, builders, consultants, and other project influencers.
Drive specification activity and project pull-through by identifying opportunities early in the project lifecycle.
Support dealers through technical consultation, complete system recommendations, training, and project strategy.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Partner with Marketing, Product Management, Training, Supply Chain, and Customer Support to execute regional priorities.
Represent the voice of the customer by sharing competitive intelligence, market insights, and growth opportunities.
Technical & Commercial Expertise
This role requires an uncommon combination of commercial leadership, technical credibility, and market expertise. The successful candidate must be equally comfortable leading executive business discussions, analyzing complex market opportunities, and influencing residential technology projects from concept through completion.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to:
Develop and execute sophisticated business strategies that improve revenue, profitability, and market share through strategic account planning, market development, dealer acquisition, and disciplined investment decisions.
Understand the luxury residential technology business at every level, including dealer economics, project workflows, specification processes, customer buying behaviors, labor models, project profitability, and the commercial drivers that determine long-term dealer success.
Rapidly interpret residential construction drawings, reflected ceiling plans, AV system documentation, and project specifications to identify opportunities, perform plan-level takeoffs, and develop complete McIntosh and Sonus faber system recommendations that align with project objectives and overall system architecture.
Demonstrate deep expertise in the architecture, design, and integration of complete luxury residential technology systems, understanding how luxury audio, home theater, architectural loudspeakers, distributed audio, networking, control, lighting, video distribution, security, environmental controls, and automation platforms work together to deliver exceptional client experiences.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of enterprise-grade residential networking architecture, including switching, routing, VLANs, PoE, Wi-Fi design, structured wiring, IP infrastructure, and network segmentation. The successful candidate should be capable of engaging confidently with network specialists and understanding how network architecture impacts the performance, reliability, and scalability of complete residential technology systems.
Demonstrate deep familiarity with leading luxury residential technology ecosystems, including Crestron, Savant, Control4, Josh.ai, Lutron, Cisco Meraki, Ruckus, Araknis, and similar platforms. The ideal candidate understands how these technologies are deployed within luxury residences and can confidently position McIntosh and Sonus faber solutions within complete system architectures while identifying opportunities to displace competitive offerings.
Operate as a trusted business and technical advisor, combining executive relationship management, financial acumen, technical consultation, competitive analysis, and data-driven business planning to help customers build stronger, more profitable businesses while accelerating sustainable growth for McIntosh and Sonus faber.
Technology Proficiency Required
Advanced Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, Power Query, forecasting, financial modeling, and business analysis.
Microsoft PowerPoint and Word for executive presentations, business planning, and strategic account reviews.
Experience with CRM platforms (Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, or equivalent) for opportunity management, forecasting, and strategic account planning.
Adobe Acrobat Professional for reviewing and annotating project documentation.
Preferred
Bluebeam Revu or similar construction document review software.
Familiarity with manufacturer programming and configuration tools, specification resources, and residential technology design documentation, including Crestron programming and configuration suite, Savant programming and configuration suite, Lutron programming and configuration suite, and similar platforms.
Qualifications Required
10+ years of progressive business development, strategic account management, or sales leadership experience.
Demonstrated success driving profitable growth through new business development, executive account management, strategic territory planning, and market development.
Strong analytical and financial acumen with the ability to translate data into actionable business strategies.
Exceptional presentation, communication, negotiation, and executive relationship management skills.
Preferred
Experience within the luxury audio, residential technology, or luxury Custom Integration industries.
Demonstrated success influencing project specifications and consultative business development.
CEDIA, AVIXA CTS, or equivalent residential technology certification preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
Core Competencies
Strategic business development and market expansion
Executive account leadership
Luxury retail and residential technology expertise
Systems architecture and specification influence
Enterprise networking and technology ecosystems
Technical consultation and solution positioning
Data-driven decision making and financial acumen
Entrepreneurial ownership and cross-functional leadership
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role is measured by building a stronger, more diversified business—not simply managing an existing territory. The successful Regional Business Development Manager will:
Expand and diversify the dealer ecosystem across both luxury retail and residential technology channels.
Increase specification activity and project conversion by influencing opportunities early in the design cycle.
Become a trusted business and technical advisor to dealers, architects, designers, builders, and integrators.
Use analytics, financial discipline, and market intelligence to maximize territory performance and dealer profitability.
