Company Overview
Continuum Associates (CA) is a leading power systems and energy consulting firm dedicated to delivering innovative solutions in power system planning and operations, grid optimization, renewable integration, energy market analysis, and regulatory compliance. Our expertise helps electric power utilities and Independent System Operators (ISOs) navigate the complexities of the evolving energy landscape, ensuring reliable, efficient, and sustainable operations. Our team brings over 200 years of combined industry experience, and we specialize in renewable energy integration, advanced power system modeling and studies, transmission and distribution grid planning and operations, and technical and strategy consulting across the electrical energy and power systems ecosystem.
We are seeking a dynamic Product Manager and Product Owner who will drive the growth and expansion of our software and SaaS ecosystems, which have been used by over 100 utilities and electric infrastructure developers over the past decade.
About the Position
We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Product Manager / Product Owner to lead the end-to-end lifecycle of our software products — from concept and design to development, launch, and iteration. This role requires a mix of strategic thinking, technical fluency, and execution excellence. This role requires someone who is strategic yet hands-on, capable of working in a fast-moving startup environment with minimal resources and maximum accountability. Our products are purpose-built software for the energy and power sector, grounded in electrical engineering and used by utility engineers, grid planners, grid system operators, independent power producers, and project developers. You must be sharp enough to pick up the nuances of the power systems domain quickly and to speak credibly with the engineers who build, use, and evaluate our products.
Key Responsibilities
Define and maintain the product vision, strategy, and roadmap, ensuring alignment with company goals and client needs as well as industry standards and the evolving needs of the power and energy sector.
Conduct market and user research to identify new opportunities, assess competitive trends and landscape, and propose new product ideas.
Learn and adapt quickly to our industry and the electrical power systems domain (such as transmission and distribution planning, grid operations, and engineering studies and analysis workflows), understand the landscape and unmet client needs of utility engineers, grid planners, and operators, and identify where product and data-driven opportunities exist.
Partner closely with in-house power systems domain experts and developers to translate engineering concepts, study methodologies, industry standards, and utility workflows into product requirements, and help validate that features, calculations, and outputs are technically sound and meet engineering expectations.
Write clear, detailed, and structured product requirements (PRDs) and user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria. Think through feature interdependencies, user flows, and technical implications, including the engineering logic and data inputs behind domain-specific features, to ensure completeness and feasibility.
Act as the bridge between business, design, software development, and engineering teams and power systems domain experts — ensuring clarity of goals, priorities, and deliverables.
Maintain strong awareness of the technology landscape and emerging innovations; communicate effectively with technical teams about feasibility, architecture, and implementation trade-offs.
Track developments in power system standards, regulations, and market rules (for example, those of ISOs/RTOs and reliability organizations) and assess their impact on product direction and roadmap priorities.
Own the product backlog and sprint planning using tools. Gather and analyze user feedback and usage data to inform the roadmap and prioritization.
You should be proficient in product development tools like JIRA, Trello, Confluence, Figma and other similar platforms/tools.
Be a hands-on contributor who can roll up their sleeves to fill gaps, coordinate execution, or test early prototypes when needed to ensure timely delivery.
Engage directly with clients and users, including electrical engineers at utilities, system operators, and project developers, to understand needs, present product demos, gather feedback, and translate insights into enhancements.
Lead technical conversations during product evaluations, pilots, and proposal or bid responses: explain how the products address engineering use cases, answer technical questions credibly, and capture client feedback to shape the roadmap.
Define and track product KPIs and success metrics to evaluate performance and outcomes.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field. A degree in electrical engineering, specifically in electrical power systems, is a strong plus, though not required, as it helps you understand our products in depth, work effectively with development and domain teams to manage the roadmap and development process, and speak credibly with client electrical engineers evaluating our products.
7+ years of experience in product management, product ownership for software or SaaS products, preferably B2B or enterprise software for technical users. Proven prior history of success as a Product Manager and in bringing SaaS tools to the market.
Proven proficiency with JIRA, Trello, Figma, Confluence, or equivalent tools for managing requirements and workflows.
Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to write detailed requirements and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to understand new industries quickly and absorb the technical nuances of complex engineering domains, engage with clients, and propose innovative product solutions.
Experience with engineering, analytical, or energy-sector software is an advantage.
Ability to hold credible, technically informed conversations with electrical engineers at utilities, system operators, and developers who are evaluating the product, including demos, pilots, and technical Q&A.
Technical aptitude and intellectual curiosity to pick up power systems concepts (for example, grid planning, interconnection, operations, and related engineering studies) and to ask the right questions of developers and domain experts, without needing to be an electrical engineer.
Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, resource-constrained, startup-type environment and delivers high-quality results with minimal supervision.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and prioritization skills.
What Success Looks Like
You manage the product end-to-end — from idea to launch — with clear documentation, predictable execution, and measurable impact.
You communicate seamlessly across business, design, and technology functions.
You deliver value quickly, handle ambiguity confidently, and take initiative beyond your job scope to move the product forward.
Clients and internal teams view you as a trusted product leader who blends strategic thinking with operational excellence.
You quickly build enough domain depth to lead roadmap and design discussions with developers and domain experts, and to hold technically credible conversations with client engineers evaluating the product.
Complete ownership of our suite of software tools and SaaS platform. The buck stops with you.
This position is only open to candidates in North America (Canada, USA) or Western Europe. If you do not live in the USA, you should be willing and available to travel to and within USA about 20% of the time.
