Engineering Expert - Engineering Simulation & Design

We are seeking experienced Engineering Simulation & Design professionals to support a project focused on creating and evaluating advanced AI engineering tasks.
The role combines engineering design, simulation, Python, and AI evaluation. You will develop challenging simulation-based problems, validate solutions, analyze AI execution, and build objective evaluation methods.
What You'll Do
Design complex engineering problems involving multiple constraints, trade-offs, and optimization objectives.
Build and validate simulation environments using open-source engineering tools and Python.
Develop reference solutions and objective automated graders.
Analyze AI-generated solutions and execution logs to identify technical and reasoning failures.
Evaluate physical plausibility, units, boundary conditions, convergence, and simulation results.
Refine benchmark difficulty based on observed model performance.
Collaborate with AI researchers, technical leads, and engineering experts.
What We're Looking For
Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
10+ years of hands-on engineering design experience.
Strong Python scripting and engineering simulation experience.
Proficiency with at least one relevant open-source simulation or engineering tool, such as:
OpenFOAM
FEniCSx
CalculiX
ngspice / PySpice
python-control
CadQuery / build123d
OpenModelica
Cantera
Gmsh
Experience with LLMs, coding agents, or AI evaluation is valuable.
Strong analytical skills and ability to diagnose technical and reasoning failures.
Exceptional attention to physical and engineering accuracy.
Reliable computer and high-speed internet connection for remote work.
Availability for weekend on-call support.
