About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

About the Role
We're looking for a creative, detail-oriented Product Developer / Designer who can take a product from initial concept and design through development and production handoff. This role combines strong graphic design capabilities with hands-on technical apparel development experience. The ideal candidate has a great eye for design, understands garment construction, and can translate creative ideas into production-ready products. You'll work closely with our creative, merchandising, and production teams to develop products that feel authentic to Broken Bow while meeting our standards for quality, fit, functionality, and design.
We're especially interested in someone with experience in the Western, outdoor, or lifestyle apparel industries who understands how to balance original artwork, timeless design, and technical product development.
Key Responsibilities
Product Design & Creative Development
Develop original product concepts across apparel, headwear, accessories, and additional lifestyle categories.
Create graphics, artwork, patterns, and design elements that align with Broken Bow's creative direction.
Translate seasonal concepts, inspiration, and brand storytelling into cohesive product designs.
Research trends, materials, silhouettes, construction techniques, and emerging product opportunities.
Develop detailed sketches, digital mockups, colorways, and product presentations.
Collaborate on seasonal collections, limited-edition releases, and brand collaborations.
Technical Design & Product Development
Build comprehensive, production-ready tech packs for apparel and accessories.
Create detailed specifications covering measurements, construction, materials, trims, artwork placement, labeling, and finishing.
Develop and maintain accurate product specifications and technical documentation.
Work with production partners to communicate design intent and technical requirements.
Review prototypes, samples, and fit to ensure products meet design and quality standards.
Provide clear feedback and revisions throughout the sampling and development process.
Identify opportunities to improve product construction, materials, fit, and overall quality.
Production & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with internal teams and external manufacturers to move products efficiently from concept to production.
Manage multiple product development projects while maintaining timelines and deadlines.
Help source and evaluate fabrics, trims, materials, and manufacturing techniques.
Ensure consistency in design details, sizing, quality, and brand standards.
Support product launches by providing accurate design files, specifications, and product information.
Help establish and improve product development processes as the brand continues to scale.
Qualifications
Required
Minimum 2 years of experience in product design, apparel development, technical design, or a related field.
Strong graphic design skills with proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Demonstrated experience creating detailed apparel tech packs and production specifications.
Understanding of garment construction, fabrics, trims, printing, embroidery, and manufacturing processes.
Ability to take ownership of a product from initial concept through development and production handoff.
Strong attention to detail and a high standard for design and product quality.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both creative teams and production partners.
Portfolio demonstrating both creative design work and technical product development capabilities.
Preferred
Experience in Western, outdoor, workwear, or lifestyle apparel.
Background developing woven shirts, outerwear, graphic tees, headwear, and accessories.
Experience working directly with domestic and international manufacturers.
Knowledge of fit development, grading, fabric sourcing, and production costing.
Experience with licensed products, artist collaborations, or limited-edition collections.
A genuine appreciation for Western culture, original artwork, and thoughtfully designed products.
What We're Looking For
Beyond technical experience, we're looking for someone who genuinely cares about the products they create. Someone who understands that great design goes beyond a graphic on a shirt. Every material, fit, construction detail, and piece of artwork should feel intentional.
The right person is equally comfortable developing an original graphic, refining the fit of a garment, building a detailed tech pack, and communicating with a manufacturer to get the final product right.
We're looking for someone who takes ownership, brings fresh ideas to the table, and is excited to help shape the next chapter of Broken Bow.
