Diesel Mechanic

The Opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our Timaru crew in a permanent, full-time role, working a minimum of 40 hours per week.
You’ll be working on a wide range of heavy vehicle brands including Volvo, MAN, Scania, BCI and Mitsubishi, carrying out both proactive and reactive maintenance. The role includes COF inspections, day-to-day servicing, maintenance and repairs on diesel and petrol motors, as well as other fleet vehicles where required.

You’re confident servicing vehicles, carrying out repairs, and diagnosing faults, with a solid understanding of Waka Kotahi requirements and regulations. You also have a genuine interest in working on buses.
Your Skills
NZQA Level 4 Heavy Automotive Qualification or equivalent experience
Current NZ Driver Licence (Class 1 required, Class 2–4 preferred)
Candidates with EV training or qualifications - on lite or heavy vehicles will be prioritised.
Reliable and mechanically minded
Strong attention to detail
Health and safety focused
Physically capable of lifting up to 25kg
Tech savvy with a positive, enthusiastic attitude
