Job Summary
The Inside Sales Representative supports Outside Sales Representatives and assists phone and walk-in customers with orders, product availability, payments, and delivery coordination. This position works closely with dispatch, loading supervisors, transportation providers, and plant personnel to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment while maintaining strong customer relationships.
Essential Job Functions
Process customer orders and generate loading tickets for drivers and customer pickups.
Coordinate truck and rail deliveries with dispatch, loading supervisors, and transportation providers.
Assist customers with product questions, order processing, pickup scheduling, and payment transactions.
Verify inventory, confirm order readiness, and notify customers of pickup and delivery arrangements.
Accept and accurately record approved customer payments, issue receipts, and maintain secure financial records.
Prepare reports, correspondence, and shipping documentation while maintaining accurate records.
Maintain professional communication with customers, sales representatives, and plant personnel.
Keep the work area clean and organized and perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged sitting and frequent computer and telephone use are required. The position involves occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting or carrying materials up to 25 pounds independently. Heavier lifting requires assistance or appropriate equipment. Must be able to read documents, view computer screens, and communicate effectively.
Work Environment
Professional office within a manufacturing operation, with occasional visits to production, warehouse, and loading yard areas. Exposure to varying noise levels may occur. Required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots, must be worn in designated areas.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong customer service, communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
Ability to read and understand orders, shipping documents, reports, and procedures.
Proficiency with computer systems, data entry, email, and standard office software.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, maintain accuracy, and work independently or as part of a team.
Ability to complete required training and follow company procedures.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Customer service, sales support, administrative, or office experience preferred.
Manufacturing, construction materials, or transportation experience preferred.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Additional hours may be required during inventory counts, peak business periods, or other operational needs.
