Job Summary
The Cook reports to the Executive Chef. He or she is accountable for playing their part in preparing and serving food that is consistently excellent. This person is a team player, carefully trained, multi-skilled, flexible, courteous and friendly.
The ideal candidate must:
Have a minimum of three (3) CXC/GCE subjects including English
Have a minimum of one (1) year experience in this field
Have working knowledge of culinary arts
Have a valid Food Handler’s Permit
Ensure that the satisfaction of the guest is the main purpose in the Kitchen
Keep an eye on quality and product specifications
Receive food items from stores and report any discrepancies to the relevant Manager/Supervisor.
Have working knowledge of how to prepare meals in bulk
Ensure good care and maintenance of all tools and equipment used
Practice the HACCP system with special attention to general food safety and clean as you go
Ensure the EarthCheck Standards on being environmentally friendly in the Kitchens is carefully followed.
Have the ability to withstand the physical demands of the job
Be able to work flexible shifts
Be able to work well with peers and leaders at all levels
