Role Description The Vice President of Engineering is a full-time, remote role responsible for leading and scaling engineering teams that build and maintain Finastra’s financial technology products. This position oversees engineering strategy, execution, and quality, ensuring that software solutions are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with business objectives. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing engineering leaders, setting technical direction, prioritizing product and platform initiatives, and driving continuous improvement in processes, security, and performance. The role collaborates closely with Product Management, Project Management, and other cross-functional partners to define roadmaps, allocate resources, and mitigate delivery risks. The Vice President of Engineering is also accountable for fostering an inclusive culture, mentoring talent, and establishing best practices in software development, reliability, and scalability across distributed teams.
Qualifications
Strong Engineering Management skills, including experience overseeing multiple teams or departments and setting strategic technical direction.
Proven Team Leadership abilities, with a track record of building, mentoring, and retaining diverse, high-performing engineering teams.
Hands-on background in Software Development and familiarity with modern architectures, cloud technologies, and secure coding practices.
Demonstrated Project Management skills, including planning, execution, risk management, and stakeholder coordination in complex technical programs.
Experience in Product Development, working closely with product leaders to align engineering efforts with market needs and customer requirements.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and represent engineering in executive discussions.
Experience in fintech, banking technology, or other highly regulated industries is highly beneficial.
Proficiency in managing remote and geographically distributed teams and working across time zones.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or equivalent leadership experience preferred.
