Director - People & Technology Leader

Signal Labs is looking for a Director of Engineering to lead our Hyderabad office, one of our most important engineering hubs. You will be the senior engineering leader on site and accountable for the people, delivery, and culture of a team that will grow from 25 to 50 engineers over the next 12 months.
Your team will build and run core parts of SignalOS, our AI-driven operational decisioning platform, along with the customer solutions built on it for healthcare, financial services, transportation, and supply chain organizations. You will set the technical bar, hire and develop managers and senior engineers, and build the mechanisms that let a fast-growing organization ship high-quality software quickly and reliably.
This is a builder’s role. You will help shape how Signal Labs engineers work across locations, and you will partner closely with engineering, product, and business leaders in the US and India.

Key Job Responsibilities
Lead the engineering organization and own its delivery, quality, operational excellence, and engineering culture.
Scale the team from 25 to 50 engineers in 12 months: build the hiring plan, run a high-bar interview process, and hire engineering managers, principal engineers, and senior individual contributors.
Design the organization structure, including team charters, ownership boundaries, and career paths, so teams have clear missions and can operate with autonomy.
Develop leaders: coach engineering managers and tech leads, run calibrated performance reviews, and build a strong bench for future leadership roles.
Partner with product management and architecture to set roadmaps, make build-versus-buy decisions, and balance new capability delivery with platform health and technical debt.
Set and raise the technical bar across system design, code quality, testing, security, and observability for cloud-native, data-intensive, and AI/ML systems.
Establish engineering mechanisms such as planning cadences, operational reviews, delivery metrics, incident management, and post-incident reviews.
Own operational excellence and application security for every service the team ships. Define and track SLOs for availability, latency, and cost, run weekly operational reviews, and make sure every incident leads to a blameless root-cause analysis with corrective actions that are closed out. Build security into the development lifecycle through threat modeling, secure code review, dependency and secrets scanning, and timely fixes for vulnerabilities, so that customers in regulated industries can trust our platform with their most sensitive data.
Work with security and compliance teams to embed SOC 2 and ISO 27001 controls into everyday engineering practice.
Build strong working relationships across time zones with US-based engineering, product, and customer-facing teams, and represent Hyderabad engineering in company-level planning.
Engage directly with strategic customers and partners when needed to understand problems, unblock delivery, and build trust.
Act as the site leader for engineering: champion an inclusive, high-ownership culture and strengthen Signal Labs’ presence in the Hyderabad technology community, including campus and university partnerships.
