Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Design Engineering Data Specialist Electrical to support the development of data-driven solutions for electrical and electronic (E/E) engineering systems. This role combines electrical engineering expertise with data analysis, technical documentation, and engineering automation to support AI training and advanced engineering applications.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with electrical design, schematics, wiring diagrams, harnesses, connectors, and electrical networks. This individual will help ensure engineering data accurately reflects design intent, connectivity, constraints, and design changes while supporting the development of structured datasets for AI-driven engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Develop technical requirements, data standards, and annotation guidelines for capturing electrical engineering design intent, connectivity, constraints, and design rationale.
Review and validate electrical engineering data, including schematics, wiring diagrams, harness designs, component libraries, netlists, and electrical network models.
Analyze and document design changes across versions, including modifications to electrical schematics, wiring harnesses, network topologies, component selections, and design parameters.
Use Python, scripting languages, and engineering tool APIs to automate design tasks, validate engineering data, and generate synthetic design variations for AI training datasets.
Identify inconsistencies, gaps, and quality issues in engineering datasets to ensure accuracy and alignment with real-world electrical design requirements.
Collaborate with engineering and data teams to improve data quality, support engineering automation, and enable AI-powered engineering applications.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
At least 5 years of hands-on electrical and electronic design experience involving schematics, wiring, harnesses, connectors, electrical networks, layouts, or electrical system architecture.
Strong understanding of electrical design fundamentals, including circuit connectivity, power and signal distribution, grounding, shielding, protection concepts, wire and cable selection, connector systems, and design for manufacturing.
Hands-on experience with electrical design and harness engineering software such as Siemens Capital, EPLAN, Zuken, or comparable tools.
Proficiency in Python or a comparable scripting language for engineering automation, data validation, or generating design variations.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of power grids and electrical networks, including network topology, load flow concepts, protection and distribution systems, grounding, power quality, and electrical system constraints.
Familiarity with PCB-level electronics design, schematic capture, component selection, signal integrity, power integrity, and PCB layout considerations.
Experience with engineering data structures, design ontologies, knowledge representation, or structured frameworks for documenting engineering design rationale.
Familiarity with cyber-physical systems, functional safety, electrical safety, or safety assurance modeling.
Knowledge of AI and machine learning applications in engineering data preparation, annotation, data quality evaluation, design automation, anomaly detection, or engineering recommendation systems.
Experience with electrical simulation tools such as Simcenter, MATLAB/Simulink, ETAP, PSCAD, AFS, SPICE-based tools, or comparable platforms.
Understanding of electrical system architecture, requirements traceability, interface definitions, and the interaction between hardware, software, and physical systems.
Additional Information
This is a fully remote, U.S.-based contract opportunity.
Candidates must be able to work Pacific Time business hours.
The initial contract is 3 months, with potential for extension and possible conversion to full-time employment based on business needs and performance.
