We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend (Java) Developer with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, Apache Kafka, MySQL, Docker, and Kubernetes. The ideal candidate will take ownership of existing microservices, drive backend development, improve system performance, and ensure operational excellence across the PTCS service portfolio. The role involves understanding and documenting existing business logic, developing scalable REST APIs, implementing event-driven notification pipelines, and integrating with internal and external systems such as BSS, ASM, ATG, and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM).
The candidate should be comfortable working independently, collaborating with cross-functional teams, handling production escalations, and delivering high-quality solutions within strict deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Take end-to-end ownership of 2–3 assigned PTCS microservices, including App/Main Controller, ASM Controller, BSS Controller, Misc/Data Controller, Push Notification Controller, Email Notification Controller, Scheduler, and Exporter.
Understand, document, maintain, and improve existing business logic across the microservices portfolio.
Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance REST APIs for frontend applications and external systems.
Implement and manage Apache Kafka producers and consumers for push notification and email notification workflows.
Integrate backend services with BSS, ASM, ATG, JID/RID, Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), email systems, and HashiCorp Vault.
Write clean, maintainable, reusable, and well-tested code in accordance with coding standards and architectural guidelines.
Perform code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback to improve code quality.
Develop and maintain unit tests, integration tests, and regression test suites.
Maintain and enhance Helm charts and Kubernetes deployment configurations for assigned services.
Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide L3/L4 support for production incidents.
Contribute to Methods of Procedure (MOPs), test cases, test strategies, and technical documentation.
Participate in architecture reviews and contribute to technical design decisions.
Collaborate with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams across different time zones.
Mentor junior developers and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Mandatory Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of professional backend development experience.
Expert-level proficiency in Java and Spring Boot, with hands-on experience building microservices.
Strong knowledge of Apache Kafka, including producer and consumer implementation, topic management, and consumer group handling.
Solid experience with MySQL, including complex SQL queries, transactions, indexing, and performance optimization.
Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including pod management, ConfigMaps, Secrets, and resource limits.
Strong experience designing, developing, and consuming REST APIs.
Familiarity with OpenAPI specifications and Swagger documentation.
Experience implementing JWT, OAuth2, and token-based authentication and authorization.
Hands-on experience with Firebase and FCM for push notification delivery.
Proficiency in Git, version control, and feature branch workflows.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or ArgoCD.
Practical experience developing and managing Helm charts.
Strong understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies.
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, take ownership of deliverables, and meet strict deadlines.
Good-to-Have Skills
Experience with Spring Cloud, Spring Batch, or Spring Scheduler.
Knowledge of HashiCorp Vault for secrets and certificate management.
Familiarity with Strimzi Operator and Kafka deployments on Kubernetes.
Experience with Prometheus metrics, Micrometer, and Grafana dashboards.
Familiarity with distributed tracing tools such as Jaeger and Zipkin.
Knowledge of the telecom domain, including BSS/OSS provisioning workflows and parent-child account management.
Experience with log management tools such as ELK Stack and Loki.
Familiarity with APM platforms such as New Relic, Dynatrace, or Datadog.
Knowledge of service mesh technologies such as Istio and Envoy.
Experience with automated testing frameworks, including JUnit 5, Mockito, and Testcontainers.
CKAD (Certified Kubernetes Application Developer) certification.
