Description supplied by the original job listing.
MeDirect is a Maltese digital bank, founded in 2004, with over 180,000 clients and operations in Malta and Belgium. We offer a wide range of financial services to both retail and corporate clients, including daily banking, savings, and corporate services.
We are always on the lookout for determined and hard-working individuals who are eager to take the next step in their career. At MeDirect, we strive to provide an exceptional employment experience, fostering growth, collaboration, and innovation.
Role Overview
We are looking for a motivated team player with a keen eye for spotting trends and improvement opportunities and who enjoys working in a dynamic environment to join our Finance team as a Senior Analyst – Expense Management.
Behind every spending decision at MeDirect is a number someone needs to trust. As Senior Analyst, you make sure those numbers are right and then help the business understand what they mean. You will run and review the Group’s expense-related month-end close across all entities, so that accruals, prepayments, recharges and depreciation are accurate and controlled. Then you will go further: investigating variances, spotting cost trends and risks early, and giving cost centre owners the insight to manage their budgets with confidence. Your work feeds the management and regulatory reporting that the executive team, the Board and our supervisors rely on.
You will also be a technical anchor for the team, guiding and reviewing the work of analysts and officers, and deputising for the Manager when needed. It is a natural step toward managing a finance team, in a growing, ECB-supervised digital bank.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver a reliable close and clear reporting
Perform month-end close activities for capital and operating expenditure, including accruals, prepayments, recharges, depreciation and reconciliations.
Perform variance analyses and investigate differences
Support the production of management and regulatory reporting.
Be the business’s cost partner
Prepare cost centre reports and expense analyses.
Support cost centre owners in monitoring spend and budget performance.
Identify cost trends, risks and anomalies, and escalate where appropriate.
Help prepare management presentations and reporting packs.
Shape how we plan and allocate costs
Prepare and maintain cost allocation calculations and supporting schedules.
Take part in the annual cost budget and the monthly rolling forecasts.
Help prepare cost outlooks and scenario analyses.
Make the way we work better
Support the maintenance and improvement of systems and reporting tools.
Identify process improvements and help put them into practice.
Contribute to up-to-date policies and procedure documentation.
Grow the team
Provide guidance support to analysts, and review their work where required.
Support training and knowledge sharing across the team.
Act as deputy to the Manager when required.
Deliver your own work accurately and within agreed deadlines.
Support the Manager – Expense Management and the Deputy CFO on other finance activities as needed.
Development Opportunities:
Exposure to the Group’s full cost base across all entities, and a view of how a regulated digital bank plans and controls its spend.
Visibility with senior stakeholders through management packs, working with the Manager – Expense Management and the Deputy CFO.
A first taste of leadership: reviewing others’ work, coaching colleagues and
deputising for the Manager.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Essential:
Strong accounting and financial analysis skills, supported by practical experience in a finance environment
Relevant qualification or studies in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
Hands-on experience with month-end processes, including reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and review of financial information

Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including the ability to analyse
and reconcile large datasets
Ability to take ownership of complex tasks and deliver accurately within tight reporting deadlines
Strong skills and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues and stakeholders
