Head of Artificial Intelligence

Role Description The Head of Artificial Intelligence is a part-time remote role responsible for defining and leading the Presidency’s AI vision, strategy, and roadmap. This role involves identifying high-impact AI use cases across government functions, assessing feasibility, and prioritizing initiatives that align with national objectives. Daily tasks include overseeing the design and implementation of AI solutions, guiding research and development efforts, and ensuring ethical and secure use of data and algorithms. The Head of AI will collaborate with internal teams, external experts, and partner organizations to build capabilities, establish standards, and promote best practices in AI deployment. The role also includes monitoring global AI trends, advising leadership on emerging opportunities and risks, and preparing clear briefings and reports for decision-makers.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Computer Science with experience in designing and evaluating complex software and AI systems.
Proficiency in Data Science, including data modeling, statistical analysis, and building scalable machine learning solutions.
Expertise in Pattern Recognition and related algorithms to develop robust predictive and classification models.
Advanced knowledge of Natural Language Processing (NLP) for applications such as information extraction, translation, and conversational interfaces.
Experience in Computer Vision for tasks such as image analysis, video processing, and automated detection and recognition.
Track record of leading AI or technology strategy at an organizational or national level, with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
Familiarity with AI ethics, governance, privacy, and security frameworks, particularly in public sector or regulated environments.
Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical topics into clear guidance for leadership.
Relevant advanced degree (e.g., Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or related field) or equivalent experience.
