Lead Creative Technologist

ABOUT THE ROLE
We're partnering with a modern, independent US marketing agency working at the intersection of media, AI, data, and performance. They're looking for a Lead Creative Technologist to turn creative ambition into scalable, high-performing web solutions. Reporting directly to the COO, you'll lead technical delivery across projects. You'll oversee internal and contract developers, define web architecture, and work closely with Creative, Operations, and Client Partnerships. You'll also join client conversations and pitches, explaining technical approaches in clear, non-jargony terms.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Lead technical resourcing and capacity planning across internal and contract teams
• Scope projects, provide development estimates, and flag risks and tradeoffs early
• Define web architecture and set implementation standards for the team
• Lead code reviews and set quality, performance, and "definition of done" standards
• Contribute code when needed: prototypes, complex items, or urgent delivery moments
• Support pitches and proposals with technical strategy, estimates, and resourcing plans
• Mentor the team and lead the adoption of AI-assisted development tools
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• Proven experience leading technical delivery in an agency environment
• Strong background designing web solution architecture for clients
• Solid front-end fundamentals (HTML/CSS/JS), comfort supporting full-stack needs, and familiarity with common CMS platforms
• Experience optimizing performance for high-traffic websites and responsive experiences • Knowledge of privacy and cookie compliance (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA), WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility, analytics implementation, and PII best practices • Strong source control, documentation, and delivery practices
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Advanced or native English
