Purpose and Scope
The Senior Quality Technician is the plant-level owner and subject matter lead for New Product Introduction (APQP/NPI) and Management of Change (MOC) activities. This role leads cross-functional coordination, customer-facing submissions (FAI/PPAP), auditable recordkeeping in PLM/PDM systems, and advanced quality analyses to ensure successful implementation of new products and process changes while mentoring and supporting other quality team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Own and govern plant APQP/NPI and MOC processes for multiple concurrent projects, ensuring milestones, schedules, and customer requirements are met.
Lead development, maintenance, and tracking of APQP schedules and project milestones; proactively escalate risks and drive timely resolution.
Serve as the primary plant point-of-contact for customer FAI/PPAP submissions, approvals, and related communications; represent the plant in customer meetings as required.
Coordinate and execute complex first article inspections (FAI) and PPAP packages; ensure completeness and compliance with customer-specific requirements.
Plan, coordinate, and analyze process capability studies (Cp/Cpk), measurement system analyses (MSA), and other statistical studies; present findings and recommendations to leadership and customers.
Lead plant MOC workflows: initiate/track change requests, collect implementation documentation, manage customer acceptance processes, and ensure auditable evidence is maintained.
Maintain and govern product/change documentation in Timken systems (TeamCenter, CADb, ONBASE, or equivalents); ensure records meet corporate and customer audit requirements.
Apply and coach APQP quality tools (FMEA, control plans, process flow, MSA, capability studies) to identify risks and drive corrective/preventive actions.
Generate, maintain, and present dashboard-level status reports for leadership showing APQP/MOC progress, open actions, and key risks.
Mentor, train, and provide technical guidance to Quality Technicians (1 and 2); assign tasks, review work products, and verify completeness for customer submittals.
Lead cross-functional change implementation teams (Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, Sales) to ensure robust execution of product/process launches and changes.
Identify opportunities to improve local and corporate MOC/APQP procedures and lead implementation of approved process improvements.
