Join Ramboll’s Project Delivery team as our new Senior Construction Manager – Structural / Heavy Overhead Cranes and help us deliver a safe, high-quality industrial manufacturing expansion in Pensacola, Florida. The role will report to the Project Manager, Construction, and work closely with the construction management team, contractors, specialist equipment vendors, quality and health and safety colleagues, and the wider multidisciplinary project team. You will lead field execution of the structural and heavy overhead crane scope, with responsibility for constructability, coordinated installation, progress, quality, commissioning support and a well-documented handover.
The initial project assignment is planned from 5 January 2027 to 30 May 2028. These dates describe the project assignment, not the duration or terms of employment. YOUR NEW ROLE
As Senior Construction Manager – Structural / Heavy Overhead Cranes, you will be Ramboll’s senior field lead for the structural and crane installation scope on a major industrial manufacturing expansion. You will translate engineering design, construction requirements and specialist vendor inputs into safe, coordinated and executable field plans, providing clear direction across contractors and project disciplines. Your focus will be on constructability, installation sequencing, interface management, quality, progress and timely resolution of constraints that could affect the work. Reporting to the Project Manager, Construction, you will provide resident site support in Pensacola throughout the planned assignment and serve as a trusted point of coordination between the construction management team, contractors, equipment vendors, engineering, quality, health and safety, and commissioning stakeholders. You will use sound field judgment to anticipate issues, escalate decisions when needed and maintain alignment on priorities, readiness and next steps. Success in the role will be reflected in safe execution, reliable progress, compliant installation, complete documentation and an orderly handover to commissioning and operations.
Responsibilities:
Provide field leadership for foundations, structural steel, building envelope interfaces, and overhead crane installation, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.
Promote a strong safety culture by identifying risks, supporting field planning activities, and working with contractors to resolve safety concerns before work proceeds.
Lead constructability and installation readiness reviews, ensuring designs, materials, equipment, permits, and predecessor activities are in place to support execution.
Coordinate crane installation activities and contractor work fronts, managing interfaces, priorities, field issues, and vendor requirements to maintain project momentum.
Monitor quality and project performance by overseeing QA/QC activities, validating field progress, identifying schedule risks, and driving corrective actions when needed.
Support project completion and handover activities, including change management, mechanical completion, commissioning support, punch-list resolution, turnover documentation, and stakeholder reporting.
About You
We are looking for a practical, collaborative field leader with strong industrial construction experience and the ability to drive safe, efficient project execution. You should be able to demonstrate the following:
7+ years of construction experience supporting structural, industrial, or heavy civil projects, with demonstrated field leadership responsibilities on complex construction sites.
Experience coordinating and supporting heavy overhead crane installations, including crane runways, rails, structural supports, alignment, tolerances, and vendor-led installation activities.
Proven experience overseeing structural construction activities, including foundations, steel erection, building envelope interfaces, and coordination across multiple active work fronts.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess field conditions, resolve constructability and execution challenges, and recommend practical solutions.
Ability to build effective working relationships with contractors, craft personnel, vendors, client representatives, and multidisciplinary project teams while driving accountability and collaboration.
Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, schedules, safety requirements, quality processes, progress reporting, commissioning support, and project turnover activities.
