What you will do
Kenvue is currently recruiting for:
Technical Operations Senior Packaging Engineer – PPWR Tertiary Packaging
The position reports into the Technical Operations Senior Packaging Manager and is based in Santa Palomba, Pomezia (site-based role, with approximately 20% travel to other internal and external manufacturing sites across EMEA).
What will you do
The Technical Operations Senior Packaging Engineer supports technical and process feasibility assessments, required to support compliance with tertiary and transportation packaging with the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). The scope of the job is primarily for the location of Pomezia, due to the volume of SH&EH of SKU in the Site as well as the NPD execution led by Pomezia R&D deployment center.
The role supports the identification of technical gaps and the deployment of feasible solutions for worst-case packaging scenarios (flexible plastic materials). The senior engineer may support, less than 30%, the EMEA manufacturing network and additionally it requires to be based in Pomezia to ensure direct day-to-day alignment with the project deployment lead, who manages the activities hands-on, and access directly to all representative worst-case applications.
The position provides senior packaging engineering expertise, collaboration with Manufacturing sites, Engineering Platforms, Procurement, Quality, Regulatory, Marketing and Packaging material Suppliers. It supports transformation budget and capital expenditure estimates, incorporation of identified gaps into brand roadmaps and preparation for subsequent deployment and implementation phases.
Responsibilities:
Execute technical and process feasibility assessments for tertiary and transport packaging primarily for Pomezia Site
Support the identification of PPWR gaps and the deployment of packaging, material, equipment and process changes for selected worst-case scenarios, prioritizing flexible-film applications.
Deploy and test solutions for tertiary or transport packaging, with main focus on flexible films.
Support the definition of risks, trials, timelines, implementation constraints and preliminary cost or capital estimates.
Support feasibility activities with functions, sites and suppliers, executing project proposals and brand-roadmap inputs.
Maintain technical documentation, dashboards and compliance evidence.
What we are looking for
Degree in Packaging, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
Relevant packaging-engineering experience; fluent written and spoken English.
Engineering role in manufacturing plants with expertise in tertiary packaging materials (corrugated cases, pallet systems, stretch and shrink films, sleeves, trays, straps...).
Ability to challenge technical proposals constructively, using equipment, process and manufacturing knowledge.
Knowledge of tertiary packaging, flexible plastic materials, manufacturing processes, trials, validation and change management.
Ability to convert regulatory requirements into practical engineering assessments and implementation plans.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Clear technical communication and effective stakeholder management, facilitation and communication across functions, sites, suppliers and regions.
Strong planning, prioritization and project-management capability.
Cross-functional collaboration and leadership of work packages from assessment through recommendation and implementation planning.
