Key Responsibilities:
Wallester is looking for an AML QA Team Lead to build a quality assurance function for its AML operations from scratch. The role sits in the first line of defence within the AML function. It is not part of Compliance. You will design and run quality checks on the AML function’s day-to-day work: alert handling, investigations, screening decisions and customer due diligence. The aim is that decisions are well reasoned, documented and in line with internal procedures. Beyond quality control, you will use what you see across the teams to propose to management how AML processes, operations and tools can be optimised. That means making them more efficient, more consistent and better automated, without weakening controls.
Build the first-line AML QA function: methodology, sampling approach, checklists, scoring and reporting.
Carry out regular quality checks on transaction monitoring alerts, screening hits, investigations and KYC/ODD files within the AML function.
Identify errors, control weaknesses and recurring issues, and agree corrective actions with the team leads concerned.
Follow up on corrective actions until they are closed.
Analyse AML processes, operations and tools end to end, and identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, manual work and duplication.
Prepare optimisation proposals for management on processes, workflows, staffing allocation and tooling, including automation and system improvements. Support their implementation together with the teams and Product.
Report QA results, trends and optimisation proposals to the CAMLO on a regular basis.
Feed QA findings into updates of procedures, manuals and training.
Keep QA records complete and audit-ready.
Work closely with the AML Monitoring and Investigations, Partner Risk Management and KYC Operations teams and with Product. Coordinate with AML Compliance (second line) where needed.
Requirements:
At least 5 years of experience in AML/CTF/sanctions, including QA, internal control or investigations.
Experience building or running a QA or control-testing process.
Knowledge of the Estonian AML/CTF framework (MLTFPA, ISA, FSA guidelines).
Fluent English; Estonian is an advantage.
