About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
At Speechmatics we build speech technology that lets machines understand and respond to people. We're looking for a Developer Relations Advocate in San Francisco to put that technology in the hands of the developers building the next wave of Conversational AI.
You will join our Developer Relations team and help build a vibrant, growing community of developers who are excited about our Conversational AI and speech capabilities. You'll learn from experienced colleagues, get hands-on with our latest technology, and see your work shape how developers build with voice.
What you’ll be doing:
Be the face of Speechmatics in San Francisco, building our profile across the city's AI and developer scene and bringing back the market insight that shapes our US growth.
Grow a passionate community of developers through online forums, social media, events, and meet-ups.
Be the developer's voice inside Speechmatics, turning their feedback into real product improvements.
Create clear, practical content such as tutorials, code samples, demos, blog posts, and documentation that help developers understand and build with our technology.
Get developers from first API call to working product, unblocking them on technical challenges and partnering with engineering on the tricky ones.
Help run webinars, hackathons, and community events that developers want to attend.
Build relationships with developers, partners, and community champions, supporting our wider Developer Relations programmes.
Use community and content data to show what's working and shape where we focus next.
Who we are looking for:
Early-career experience in developer relations, community management, developer support, software development, or a similar role.
Hands-on experience with APIs, SDKs, and developer tools. You enjoy building things and trying out new technology.
A collaborative approach, with the confidence to work with engineering and product teams and turn community feedback into real improvements.
Curiosity about speech technology, AI, and machine learning. You don't need to be an expert, just keen to learn.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to a diverse audience.
Enthusiasm for networking and building relationships with developers, partners, and the wider community.
Any experience creating content would be welcome, whether technical writing, documentation, blog posts, videos, or talks, from work, study, open-source, or side projects.
Competitive salary plus OTE or bonus, with great additional benefits.
