Manager, Maintenance Operations Engineer

Job Duties: Under the direct supervision of the Director, Highway Maintenance:
Serves as supervisor/coordinator of the RCOC maintenance headquarters staff and its activities.
Provides expertise and instruction in the proper methods/materials used in maintenance operations and assist in the budgetary control of operations.
Makes independent decisions based on RCOC board policies.
Must stay abreast of new techniques and procedures related to highway maintenance operations.
May serve occasionally as Director of Highway Maintenance in the Director’s absence, including attending Board meetings.
Frequently addresses concerns from citizens and community officials.
Must perform duties in a professional and courteous manner to promote a positive image of the road commission for Oakland County.
Requires a daily schedule that supports RCOC hours of operation.
Regular and predictable onsite job attendance is an essential function of this position.
Special Experience / Education:
A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, or degree in a similar field, from an accredited college or university.
A minimum of five (5) years of progressively more responsible experience in managing highway construction and design/maintenance operations, which involves the supervision of employees.
A Professional Engineer (PE) license from the State of Michigan, is preferred.
Must possess and maintain a valid Michigan Driver’s License is required.
