Then Just Eat Takeaway.com might be the place for you. We're a leading global online delivery platform, and our vision is to empower everyday convenience.
Whether it's a Friday-night feast, a post-gym poke bowl, or grabbing some groceries, our tech platform connects tens of millions of customers with hundreds of thousands of restaurant, grocery and convenience partners across the globe.
About this role
We're looking for a Technology Manager to lead and grow our Order Issue Resolution team in the Service & Supply domain.
Every day, millions of orders flow through the JET platform. When something doesn't go to plan, such as a missing item, a late or undelivered order, or a payment dispute, customers need fast, fair and transparent resolution. The Order Issue Resolution team owns the products that represent and execute the policies for how order issues are resolved for our customers, helping protect both customer trust and partner relationships.
As a Technology Manager you'll provide leadership, guidance and career development for a cross-functional team of typically 6-9 engineers. You'll collaborate closely with Product, Operations and Customer Care stakeholders, as well as neighbouring engineering teams, to keep the team focused on the right problems and aligned with our wider architectural principles and practices.
We're looking for someone who lives our behaviours of lead, deliver and care, brings fresh ideas, challenges the status quo, and pushes for bold solutions that make our customer and partner experiences better.
These are some of the key components to the position:
Career development: mentoring your team, conducting performance reviews, guiding career development and maintaining a high standard of engineering output.
Hiring: recruiting, onboarding and retaining our engineering talent.
Motivation: fostering a positive, inclusive working environment and team culture.
Project delivery: overseeing our agile development processes to ensure an efficient workflow and that deliverables are met on time.
Communication: providing clear communication to stakeholders, business leaders and neighbouring teams so engineering efforts stay aligned with business goals.
Technical roadmap: owning the roadmap in collaboration with the Product Manager to prioritise the right work in line with business objectives.
Ownership: owning streams of work end-to-end, from requirements gathering and design through to supporting functionality in production.
Continuous improvement: improving the team's effectiveness by proposing and implementing new processes, designs and engineering practices, and sharing these across the wider Engineering org.
Operating: taking responsibility for deploying and supporting your changes all the way through to proving they work well in production.
Innovation mindset: adapting and using the latest technology and approaches, and coaching others to do the same.
What will you bring to the team?
Prior experience as a people manager, leading cross-functional engineering teams.
A deep understanding of software development and the SDLC, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions.
Strong business acumen, with the ability to align engineering efforts with company goals.
Experience guiding software engineering decisions through influence rather than authority.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently on complex problems.
Experience working in an Agile environment (Scrum, Kanban).
A desire to coach engineers and drive a high-performance culture.
Previous hands-on experience as a backend, full-stack or mobile software engineer (ideally .NET/C# or Java).
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS (or similar, e.g. Azure, Google Cloud).
Familiarity with best practices for using AI to boost productivity, staying in sync with the latest AI developments and how they can be applied to business use cases.
Having an opinion and not being afraid to challenge senior leadership, with the overall objective of delivering value.
