Associate Director, Market Access Contract Strategy & Analytics
Boston, MA (Onsite) | Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease
Location: Boston, MA (Seaport, 3-day per week minimum) Remote work is not available for this role.
Why Alexion, AstraZeneca, Rare Disease
Here it means more. More because we deeply connect with patients so we can do our best work. More because of the unique way we do things and the profound impact we can have. But most of all, more because of our patients, their journey and their hope.
This is what you will do:
Turn payer and provider contract data into decisions that advance patient access and protect portfolio value. As Associate Director, Contract Analytics, you will evaluate the financial and access implications of contracts between Alexion and U.S. payers, PBMs, specialty pharmacies, distributors, health systems, and provider organizations. You will support pre-deal strategy, post-deal performance assessment, gross-to-net forecasting, and recommendations to Market Access leadership and account teams.
You will be responsible for:
Evaluating commercial payer, PBM, Medicare, Medicaid, specialty pharmacy, health-system, and provider contracting scenarios
Assessing rebate exposure, discount structures, formulary access, utilization-management terms, volume assumptions, price-concession risk, and gross-to-net impact
Developing pre-deal financial models, contract guardrails, walk-away thresholds, and approval recommendations
Measuring post-deal performance against contracted access, utilization, share, revenue, rebate, and profitability assumptions
Translating payer and account insights into contracting recommendations for Market Access leadership
Partnering with Pricing, Finance, Government Pricing, Account Management, Forecasting, Legal, and Contract Operations
Supporting governance or review forums for payer and provider contract decisions
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
6+ years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years of direct manufacturer-side experience in U.S. Market Access, Pricing & Contracting, or Contract Analytics
Demonstrated experience evaluating pharmaceutical manufacturer contracts before and after execution, including rebate or discount economics, access assumptions, gross-to-net impact, and return on investment
Experience presenting contract recommendations, financial trade-offs, and risk assessments to Market Access, Pricing, Finance, or contracting governance leaders
Direct experience within the Market Access function of a pharmaceutical or biotechnology manufacturer is required. Healthcare consulting, data-vendor, payer, provider, contract-administration, procurement, or general commercial analytics experience alone will not satisfy the manufacturer-side experience requirement
Working knowledge of U.S. commercial and government payer and provider business models, contracting strategies, and reimbursement under medical and pharmacy benefits
Proven ability to use large data sets to model scenarios and communicate insights concisely to senior leaders
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, scenario models)
Strong business acumen, a patient-focused mindset, and the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels
Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, highly accountable environment, individually and through cross-functional teams
Up to 15% travel
Preferred Requirements:
MBA, MPH, or other advanced degree
7+ years’ experience in U.S. biotech, biopharma, or pharmaceutical market access analytics
Rare disease contract analytics experience in biopharma or pharmaceuticals
Experience completing quantitative and qualitative analyses of complex business proposals
