Optimize visualizations and data‑access paths for performance, scalability, and accessibility.
Data at Scale
Work with large datasets and real‑time/streaming data; implement responsive visual patterns and efficient state management.
Develop and sustain data visualization pipelines (ingest → transform → serve), coordinating with data engineering for governed sources.
Integration & Productization
Integrate visualizations with enterprise systems, dashboards, apps, and APIs (e.g., Databricks SQL, Snowflake, Jupiter/Qlik, Power BI/Tableau).
Establish semantic layers and metric definitions to keep visuals consistent and explainable across tools and consumers.
Analysis, Quality & Collaboration
Perform exploratory analysis to identify visualization opportunities and data stories.
Collaborate with data scientists/engineers to ensure data quality, lineage, and accuracy in published visuals.
Mentor and lead visualization specialists/developers; conduct code reviews and uphold design standards.
Standards & Documentation
Maintain visualization style guides, best practices, accessibility patterns, and governance alignment.
Document processes, components, and methodologies for repeatable delivery and sustainment.
Required Skills & Experience:
5+ years designing, developing, and implementing complex, interactive data visualizations.
Strong programming skills in Python, JavaScript, or R.
Proficiency with visualization libraries such as D3.js, Plotly, Bokeh (and comparable frameworks).
Hands‑on experience with data manipulation/transformation (e.g., Pandas, dplyr).
Proficiency with databases (SQL, NoSQL) and query optimization for BI/visual workloads.
Experience delivering on cloud/analytics platforms (e.g., Databricks, Qlik Sense, Tableau, Power BI), and integrating visuals into governed Navy environments (e.g., Jupiter/Advana, Snowflake IL5) preferred.
Strong problem‑solving, analytical skills, and an ability to translate complex information into clear, intuitive visuals.
Excellent communication skills; comfortable presenting to technical and non‑technical audiences.
Education & Certifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
Relevant certifications in visualization platforms (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik) or cloud analytics are a plus.
