About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

hackajob is collaborating with Oracle to connect exceptional professionals with this opportunity.
About The Company
Oracle builds cloud infrastructure and enterprise technology used by organizations around the world. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) supports demanding workloads across industries, including large-scale generative artificial intelligence. The company brings together engineering, research, and product teams to develop reliable, high-performance services and help customers make the most of emerging technologies.
About The Role
As a Machine Learning Engineer on Oracle’s Generative AI Services team, you will help architect, develop, and operate distributed systems for AI model training, fine-tuning, and inference. You will work closely with applied scientists, software engineers, and partner teams to build and optimize infrastructure for production-scale generative AI workloads.
You will assess model architectures and serving systems to improve performance, efficiency, and scalability, and help onboard frontier models. You will also benchmark and troubleshoot systems across the model lifecycle, ensuring dependable production deployments. The team contributes to open-source frameworks such as vLLM and SGLang and works to strengthen OCI’s generative AI capabilities.
Qualifications
Successful candidates will bring practical experience in machine learning engineering, software development, or a related discipline, with the ability to take models and supporting systems from development through production deployment. You should be comfortable building and maintaining production-quality code, investigating complex technical issues, and collaborating with stakeholders across engineering and data science.
Relevant experience with model serving, deployment automation, monitoring, performance optimization, or distributed systems is valuable. Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras, as well as open-source model-serving technologies, is beneficial. Strong communication, documentation, problem-solving, and prioritization skills are important. You should be committed to continuous learning, sound engineering practices, and inclusive collaboration.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain scalable machine learning serving systems for production. Prepare models for deployment by improving code quality, validating readiness, and addressing operational requirements such as stability, scalability, performance, and maintainability. Automate workflows from data preparation and model deployment through monitoring, supporting reliable and repeatable delivery.
Build infrastructure, frameworks, and metrics to monitor deployed models and evaluate their performance against design criteria. Diagnose issues independently or with data science partners, provide troubleshooting support, and develop durable solutions that reduce recurrence. Integrate open-source models into new and existing systems, and develop, maintain, and refine internal tools, platforms, environments, and services.
Write, test, review, document, and maintain efficient code. Follow established practices for version control, code review, and deployment, and create clear technical documentation for experimentation, data collection, analysis, and model development. Coordinate project work, manage priorities and deliverables, share technical guidance, and support junior colleagues through mentoring and knowledge sharing. Contribute to process improvements and, where appropriate, candidate interviews and hiring recommendations.
Benefits
The listed U.S. hiring range is $126,200 to $264,100 annually. Eligible compensation may also include a bonus, equity, and compensation deferral. Final placement within the range depends on factors including skills, experience, location, market conditions, and internal equity.
Oracle’s U.S. benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision coverage; disability and life insurance; flexible spending accounts; commuter benefits; a 401(k) plan with company match; paid time off and holidays; paid sick leave; parental leave; adoption assistance; an employee stock purchase plan; financial planning and group legal services; and voluntary insurance options. Eligibility and provisions vary by role and work schedule.
