Lead Safety in the Field with Martin Concrete Construction
Martin Concrete Construction is seeking an Onsite Safety Coordinator to be a visible, trusted safety presence on our active jobsites.
At Martin, safety isn’t just what we do. It’s who we are. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in the field, builds strong relationships with crews, and believes the best safety leaders teach, coach, and lead by example. If you’re approachable, organized, proactive, and passionate about keeping people safe, we want to hear from you.
This is a field-based position. You’ll travel regularly between jobsites and work closely with Superintendents, project teams, subcontractors, and the Safety Operations Manager.
What You’ll Do
As an Onsite Safety Coordinator, you’ll help make sure safety standards are followed on every jobsite, always with a positive, team-first approach. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You’ll spend your time working with people, spotting hazards, leading safety discussions, and helping crews solve problems before incidents happen.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary onsite safety resource for crews and leadership.
Conduct weekly safety inspections, document findings, and submit reports.
Monitor jobsite safety practices and correct unsafe conditions immediately.
Enforce OSHA regulations, customer safety programs, and company safety policies.
Lead Toolbox Talks, Stretch & Flex sessions, and daily JSA meetings that are engaging and interactive, not lectures.
Communicate safety expectations clearly and respectfully to all crew members.
Partner with Superintendents and Safety leadership to put corrective actions in place.
Ensure employees and subcontractors use PPE correctly.
Report injuries, incidents, equipment damage, and theft within required timeframes.
Help schedule safety training and maintain compliance records.
Stock and maintain safety supplies and keep the jobsite looking professional.
Attend required meetings and training, and contribute ideas to strengthen our safety culture.
What We’re Looking For
Experience in safety coordination, construction safety, or a related field.
Working knowledge of OSHA standards and general construction safety practices.
Understanding of construction environments and real jobsite conditions.
Ability to build trust and rapport with diverse crews and personalities.
A help-first mindset rather than an enforcement-only approach.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail while managing multiple tasks.
Professionalism in a fast-moving, hands-on environment.
Comfortable documenting findings and using basic technology (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Willing to travel regularly between jobsites.
Flexible with work hours based on project needs.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR)
Administrative experience
Prior field leadership experience
Physical & Field Requirements
This is an active role that requires being on construction jobsites for most of the day, working outdoors, and moving through active construction areas. It regularly requires:
Walking and standing for extended periods.
Moving between different areas of large, active jobsites.
Climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolding, and navigating uneven terrain.
Bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching to inspect work areas.
Working in heat, cold, wind, rain, and other weather conditions.
Wearing required PPE at all times (hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses, work boots, etc.).
Lifting and carrying safety materials or equipment up to 40 lbs.
