Main Duties/Responsibilities
Coach and guide the leadership team and other managers to improve and develop management styles and behaviours that strengthen the safety culture on site, acting as a role model so that non-compliance with regulation in the workplace is not tolerated.
Develop the Health, Safety & Environmental Policy and improvement strategies in line with site and company strategy.

Maintain and develop the HSE management structure to drive improvement in safety performance, employee engagement and the reduction of risk to all employees; chair the H&S, First Aider and Environmental Management meetings.
Manage communication of site safety and environmental performance in line with business expectations, including AMETEK reporting (e.g. lost working hours, waste) and attendance at the monthly AMETEK EHS briefing.
Ensure the site has robust systems and procedures that demonstrate risk profiling and compliance with all relevant HSE legislation, with a regular audit and site inspection schedule to validate compliance.
Ensure risk assessments (including COSHH, display screen equipment, individual, and new and expectant mothers assessments) are completed and maintained to a defined schedule, or when changes are made to the process via a recognised change management system, with timely completion of resulting action plans.
Ensure full root cause analysis is carried out, using appropriate investigation techniques, on all significant incidents (first aid, recordable, lost time incidents, fires etc.), and that action plans and stakeholders are followed up to completion to prevent reoccurrence.
Manage fire safety, hot work permits and risk assessment method statements (RAMS) for contractors, and oversee asbestos management and awareness.
Ensure the Company is made aware of any new, revoked or amended Health & Safety and environmental legislation and its implications.
Ensure employees (including agency, contract and permanent staff) are trained in HSE topics to meet minimum site safety standards for each role, and complete an HSE induction before commencing work; organise refresher, manual handling, fire and first aid training.
Ensure the site meets, maintains and develops emergency response procedures, with drills and desktop exercises that meet business and national emergency response standards, and maintain the Business Continuity Plan.
Engage and liaise with occupational health surveillance monitoring (e.g. noise, air, skin, lung and hearing checks) to ensure employees are not exposed to long-term risk and the organisation is not exposed to liability from employee behaviours.
Act as process owner for ISO 14001: maintain the environmental management system, deliver annual environmental training, and manage external audit liaison and responsibility.
Manage waste, sustainability initiatives and environmental performance reporting, keeping up to date with changes in environmental legislation and ISO 14001.
Manage site facilities: planned and preventative maintenance, contract maintenance and up-to-date insurance records, legionella management, pest control, racking inspections, access control and site security.
Manage contractors and the annual Safe Contractor submission; oversee on-site building projects and contractor liaison.
Line manage the Facilities Lead, the facilities team and cleaning services.
Develop and manage the site safety and facilities budget and CAPEX, understanding causes of over- and under-spend; contribute to operational financial planning of safety items and consumables (PPE) and improvement activities to optimise HSE spend efficiency.
Carry out any reasonable request from any member of the Management team within the general scope and purpose of the job.
