This is a highly visible role offering the opportunity to engage with leading experts, contribute to clinical research initiatives, and work at the forefront of scientific innovation in a rapidly evolving therapeutic area.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain strategic scientific partnerships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), investigators, and other healthcare stakeholders in gastroenterology.
Deliver high-quality scientific exchange on AbbVie's products, pipeline assets, disease state management, and emerging clinical data.
Identify, gather, and communicate actionable medical insights, trends, unmet needs, and competitive intelligence from the external environment.
Support the planning, initiation, and execution of local medical projects and non-interventional studies, including registries, observational research, and post-marketing studies.
Facilitate interactions between external experts and AbbVie's Medical Affairs organization to advance scientific understanding and improve patient care.
Provide scientific support for investigator-initiated research, publications, and educational initiatives where appropriate.
Contribute to study feasibility, site identification, and patient recruitment activities in collaboration with Clinical Development and Research teams.
Deliver scientific presentations and educational sessions to healthcare professionals and internal cross-functional teams.
Maintain deep expertise in gastroenterology, emerging scientific literature, clinical practice, and healthcare landscape developments.
Leverage digital and face-to-face engagement channels to optimize scientific interactions and stakeholder experiences.
Ensure all activities are conducted in full compliance with applicable regulations, industry codes, and AbbVie policies.
Education & Scientific Background
Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline (PharmD, PhD, MD, MSc or equivalent).
Strong scientific foundation with the ability to critically analyze and interpret clinical and scientific data.
Experience or strong scientific knowledge in Gastroenterology, Immunology, or related therapeutic areas is highly desirable.
Experience
Previous experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, Healthcare, Biotechnology, or the Pharmaceutical Industry is considered an asset.
We also welcome candidates with a strong academic background, including PhD and/or postdoctoral research experience, who are looking to transition into a Medical Affairs career.
Experience in scientific research, publication development, congress presentations, or collaboration within academic and clinical research networks is highly valued.
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to scientific and non-scientific audiences.
Experience collaborating with investigators, hospitals, and clinical research stakeholders is an asset.
Skills & Competencies
Strong scientific curiosity and passion for advancing patient care through medical innovation.
Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to build credible and trusted relationships with healthcare professionals, researchers, and external experts.
Strategic mindset with the ability to identify and translate medical insights into meaningful opportunities.
Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills.
Agile, proactive, and adaptable in a dynamic scientific environment.
Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
