About the Role
Join our software engineering team and help ensure the quality and reliability of cutting-edge software used in electron microscopy.
As a Software Test Automation Engineer, you'll work on an innovative application that automates the preparation of thin biological samples, known as lamellae, in a cryogenic environment. This technology plays an important role in cryo-electron microscopy workflows, helping scientists study biological structures and advance life sciences research.
You'll combine manual and automated testing to ensure our software delivers reliable performance and an excellent user experience. Working closely with software developers, product owners, and other specialists, you'll contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis to final product release.
This is an opportunity to apply your testing and automation expertise to sophisticated scientific technology and see the real-world impact of your work.
What You'll Do
Design, develop, and execute manual and automated tests to ensure software quality, functionality, and reliability.
Develop and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks, preferably using Playwright.
Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and test planning to validation and release.
Identify, investigate, document, and track software defects, working closely with developers to verify resolutions.
Create and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, and technical documentation.
Collaborate with developers, product owners, and cross-functional teams to understand requirements and ensure effective test coverage.
Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and contribute to efficient testing workflows.
Continuously improve testing strategies, automation frameworks, and quality assurance processes.
Contribute to delivering reliable, high-quality software for advanced scientific instruments.
What We're Looking For
3+ years of professional experience in software testing, including both manual and automated testing.
Programming skills in at least one of the following languages: Python, C#, or TypeScript.
Strong experience with test automation tools and frameworks, ideally Playwright.
Experience with test management and bug-tracking tools such as Jira or TestRail, including defect lifecycle management.
Familiarity with version control systems such as Git and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or Azure DevOps.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with software developers, product owners, and other stakeholders.
Good written and spoken English.
Strong documentation skills, including the ability to create clear test plans, test cases, and technical reports.
Nice to Have
ISTQB certification, ideally Foundation Level (CTFL) or higher.
Educational background in Computer Science, Engineering, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, or a related field.
Previous experience or an interest in scientific software, electron microscopy, or life sciences.
What We Offer

25 days of vacation plus 5 sick days per year.
Financial benefits, including an annual bonus, pension contribution, and access to life and health insurance at preferential rates.
