The Production Supervisor is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient execution of machining, fabrication, assembly, wiring, testing, inspection, material handling, and shipment preparation. This position converts monthly and quarterly requirements into daily priorities while developing employees, resolving constraints, maintaining quality and ERP discipline, and improving manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will be a visible, technically credible shop-floor leader who can manage people, interpret technical documentation, coordinate with Engineering and Quality, and use operational data to improve safety, quality, delivery, inventory, productivity, and cost.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead, coach, and develop Production, Shipping, and Receiving teams while promoting safety, quality, productivity, and accountability.
Assign and prioritize work based on business needs, employee capabilities, capacity, and material availability.
Support hiring, onboarding, performance management, scheduling, training, and corrective action processes.
Translate production requirements into daily schedules and coordinate resources to meet customer delivery commitments.
Lead daily production activities and resolve staffing, material, quality, and operational constraints.
Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Planning, Purchasing, and Customer Service to support efficient operations and on-time delivery.
Ensure compliance with manufacturing, inspection, testing, documentation, and quality standards.
Manage nonconforming material, corrective actions, root-cause investigations, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Oversee domestic and international shipping, receiving, inventory transactions, and ERP system accuracy.
Drive continuous improvement through Lean manufacturing, standard work, process optimization, employee development, and operational performance monitoring.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED required; technical degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent manufacturing experience preferred.
Five or more years of progressive manufacturing experience, with two years supervising or leading employees.
Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of material, manufacturing methods, and work instructions.
Practical understanding of machining, fabrication, electromechanical assembly, inspection, testing, and manufacturing quality controls.
Manufacturing ERP experience with strong Excel and Power BI or production-dashboard skills.
Strong leadership, planning, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills in a mixed-product, configured-product, or engineered-to-order environment.
Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Machining experience involving CNC mills or lathes, programming, setup, tooling, fixtures, workholding, precision tolerances, or machine-shop leadership.
Experience manufacturing gas-sampling equipment, automated equipment, or custom-engineered industrial systems.
Experience developing manufacturing instructions, inspection plans, control plans, test procedures, and workmanship standards.
Knowledge of ISO 9001, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, hazardous-location products, international shipping, or agency-controlled documentation.
