About The Company
CRG TEC is supporting an established managed service provider (MSP) based in the West Lancashire area with the recruitment of an experienced Senior IT Engineer. The company works with a range of customers and provides practical, reliable technology support across varied IT environments. Its technical team handles day-to-day support as well as infrastructure improvements and customer projects, offering engineers the opportunity to work across a broad range of technologies.
This role will suit someone who enjoys the variety of MSP work and wants to contribute as a knowledgeable, dependable member of a collaborative technical team.
About The Role
As Senior IT Engineer, you will provide predominantly third-line support, taking ownership of complex escalations across customer environments. You will investigate issues, identify lasting solutions and keep customers informed throughout the process. Alongside support responsibilities, you will contribute to infrastructure improvements and project delivery.
The role covers a diverse technology estate, so your work may range from resolving a Microsoft 365 or Intune issue to investigating Active Directory, Entra ID, Azure, Windows Server or network infrastructure. You will work directly with customers and coordinate with colleagues to ensure technical issues are resolved effectively, communicated clearly and documented accurately.
Qualifications
You will have substantial experience in an MSP or a similar multi-customer IT support environment, with a track record of managing complex technical issues. You may currently be a Senior IT Engineer or Third Line Engineer, or a capable Second Line Engineer who regularly handles escalations and is ready to progress.
You should bring a strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory and Entra ID. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune is particularly valuable. A solid understanding of Azure, networking and general infrastructure troubleshooting will also help you succeed.
Experience supporting technical projects, such as Microsoft 365 migrations, Modern Workplace deployments, server upgrades or customer infrastructure improvements, would be advantageous. You should be comfortable communicating technical information to customers, prioritising work and taking responsibility for issues through to resolution. A methodical approach, clear documentation habits and a genuine interest in solving problems are important.
Responsibilities
Manage and resolve third-line support escalations across a variety of customer environments, investigating root causes and implementing appropriate solutions. Provide technical support across Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Windows Server, Active Directory and Azure, alongside customer networking infrastructure that may include firewalls, switches, VLANs and VPNs.
Contribute to customer projects and infrastructure improvements, including migrations, deployments and upgrades. Work collaboratively with other engineers, share technical knowledge and support colleagues when complex issues require further investigation. Communicate with customers throughout the support process, setting clear expectations and explaining outcomes in an accessible manner. Maintain accurate records of investigations, changes and resolutions, following established service processes and best practices.
Benefits
The salary range is £37,000–£45,000 per year, depending on experience. The package includes a pension and additional benefits, with support for professional training and industry certifications. Hybrid working is available after the probation period.
