About The Company
Latitude Recruitment is supporting a growing engineering business with the appointment of a Project Engineer to join its team near Southampton. The organisation delivers engineering projects that bring together design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning. This opportunity offers the successful candidate the chance to contribute across the full project lifecycle, work with a range of technical and operational colleagues, and develop their experience within a growing business.
About The Role
The Project Engineer will help turn customer and project requirements into practical engineering solutions, supporting work from early concept development through to installation and commissioning. You will collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, design and project teams to keep activities aligned and moving forward. You will also work with procurement to help ensure that project budgets are well considered and based on accurate technical information.
This is a varied, hands-on position suited to an engineer who can move between design tasks, project coordination and on-site activity. You will need to communicate clearly with colleagues across different disciplines, manage changing priorities and maintain a careful focus on technical quality. The role is based near Southampton and follows a Monday to Friday working pattern, with an early finish on Fridays.
Qualifications
Applicants should bring relevant project or engineering experience and the technical ability to contribute to design and delivery activities. Experience using CAD software is required, particularly Autodesk Inventor and/or SolidWorks. Previous exposure to data acquisition, instrumentation or calibration would be valuable, as would an understanding of how engineering components and systems are manufactured, installed and commissioned.
The successful candidate will be organised, practical and comfortable working collaboratively. You should be able to interpret technical requirements, develop engineering concepts and communicate your ideas effectively to colleagues and stakeholders. A methodical approach to problem-solving, attention to detail and the ability to balance technical considerations with project budgets will be important. Applicants should also be willing to support work across the complete project lifecycle, including installation and commissioning activities where required.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to support the delivery of projects and ensure that proposed designs are suitable for production and implementation. You will contribute to the development of engineering concepts and designs, helping translate project needs into workable technical solutions. You will coordinate with design and project colleagues, sharing relevant information and helping maintain alignment between technical work and project objectives.
You will support installation and commissioning activities, helping ensure systems and equipment are implemented as intended. Working with procurement, you will provide technical input to support accurate budgeting and purchasing decisions. You will also contribute throughout the project lifecycle, responding to issues as they arise, communicating progress and supporting the team in delivering work to the required standards. A flexible, team-focused approach will help you succeed in this varied position.
Benefits
The salary for this position is £40,000 to £50,000 per year, depending on experience. The working week is Monday to Friday, with an early finish on Friday. The package also includes 25 days of annual holiday and free parking. You will have the opportunity to join a growing business and take part in a broad range of engineering project activities.
